Here are some of the more cultural and authentic events coming up in and near our Lakes & Mountains resorts of France.
Lake Festival - Saturday 2nd August 2014
On the first Saturday of August, the Bay of Albigny welcomes the biggest pyrotechnic show of Europe…
70 minutes of fireworks in rhythm with music, lights, special effects…
A special show to see at least once in its life ! Born from the great “Venetian style” party of 1860 on the lake in honour of Napoleon III, this event has evolved and integrated all the new technologies of fireworks.
"Grandiose", magic, unique ! About 200 000 spectators join lakesides to participate in this event.

Cosmo Jazz Festival - 26th July - 3rd August 2014
Nestling beneath the magnificent Mont Blanc, Chamonix hosts this year’s Cosmo Jazz Festival. Andre Manoukian and the other organisers are going out of their way to make the most of this lovely Alpine location, so expect brass bands in town, jam sessions in cable cars and moonlit mountain-top concerts! What’s more, all this contemporary jazz is free to enjoy.
If you’re staying here a little earlier in July and fancy un peu “Liberté, égalité, fraternité”, you can join in the Republican celebrations with an evening fireworks spectacullar followed on Bastille Day by a ceremony and a parade of troops.

Mountain Guide Festival, Chamonix - Thursday 15th August 2014
Four days of tradition, solidarity and friendship in Mont-Blanc region. The Guides Festival is the only day, throughout the whole year, that a Mountain Guide may take a day off work. The Guides Associations of Les Houches, Argentiere and Chamonix each celebrate on a different day, so that High Mountain Guides are always available.
As with all good ceremonies, the day begins with formal tone; the official call of the Register, and the admission of new members; passing to a more sombre moment where the tools of a Guide's trade, ice axes and ropes, are blessed and departed Guides are honoured. After that, the programme becomes more upbeat, with a brief award ceremony for the Best Client and then the festivities begin….. mountaineering displays, live music, fireworks and dancing.
Tour Mont Blanc Running Race, Chamonix - 27th - 29th June 2014
A race deep into wilderness using for the most the international path “Grande Randonnée du Tour du Mont-Blanc (GR TMB)”.
Mountain race, with numerous passages in high altitude (>2500m), in difficult weather conditions (night, wind, cold, rain or snow), that needs a very good training, adapted equipment and a real capacity of personal autonomy.
