First stop is Chamonix in France with the Mont Blanc providing a magnificent backdrop to the resort. Onto Switzerland via Martigny and the Mont Blanc Express, passing forests and waterfalls, to reach car-free Zermatt, overlooked by the Matterhorn. Last stop is Grindelwald in the Bernese Oberland, home of the Eiger and the start of numerous walking trails. In each resort, a huge variety of excursions by mountain railway and cable-car abound, and walkers will be delighted to find such a wide range of walking possibilities available.
