Surrounded by meadows and forests and set against the beautiful backdrop of the Gratlspitz peaks, this fairytale village has lost none of its 'olde worlde' charm with picturesque overhanging eaves and balconies with wonderful flowers. The village is a haven of peace and quiet and surrounded by picturesque walking country, from gentle rambles through meadows and woodland to the highest slopes accessed by the Wiedersbergerhorn gondola. There are several shops, restaurants and cafés with flower decked terraces and the village brass band plays regularly throughout the summer, dressed in national costume. The 'Alpbach Seenland Card' gives guests free use of all gondolas and buses in the valley, plus free entrance to many local attractions.
This is my first season working for Inghams as Resort Manager in Alpbach. I have lived part-time in the village for many years, first visiting on holidays as a child. I work here as a ski-instructor in the Alpbach Ski School in the winter months. I am also a qualified mountain walking guide and very much look forward to walking in the Alpbach valley with Inghams guests.
I love the traditional architecture which has been preserved by law since the 1960’s and the fact that the village is still a working farming community. Truly a picturesque gem which is unspoiled and offers tranquility to all who visit. Innsbruck and the medieval town of Rattenberg are within easy reach and walkers can enjoy an amazing 900 km of well marked paths within the Alpbach Valley region and all guests will receive a free bus travel pass which also gives free access to the mountain cable car system.
September (16-30) is when the villages in the Tyrol celebrate the annual ‘Almabtrieb’. The festival celebrates the end of the summer when the cows are led down the mountain to their stables for the winter. Cowbells echo through the valley as hundreds of cows pass by, all highly decorated in traditional costume. You’ll be welcome to join in the festivities!
