Traditional village with lovely scenery on all sides

Ellmau is a pretty village located between the rolling green slopes of the Kitzbüheler Alps and the craggy Wilder Kaiser (Wild Emperor) mountains. With a strong farming history, it it still full of local character and tradition. The village also boasts Austria’s longest mountain cable railway, the ‘Hartkaiserbahn’, which ascends to the top of the Hartkaiser mountain (1,654m) from which there are superb views of the Wild Emperor range. Set mid-way between Innsbruck and Salzburg, Ellmau is an ideal starting point for many excursions and evening entertainment includes a weekly street market and brass band concert.
