Lake Achensee

Set on the Tyrol's largest and prettiest lake

Known as the ‘Fjord of the Alps’, Lake Achensee is nearly 10 km in length and 1 km wide whilst 133m at its deepest point. Known for it's stunning emerald-green colours and drinking water quality, a variety of water sports and boat trips are able to take advantage of the vastness of the water. This is an ideal summer destination due to the spectacular scenery, including the Rofan Range to the east and the Karwendel mountain range to the west (the largest protected area in Europe). Pretty villages and towns are dotted along the lake shore and include Achenkirch, Maurach and Pertisau.

Our relaxed resort of Pertisau on the western shores of Lake Achensee enjoys super views and is a great base for exploring the area.
