Verona

Think of Italian cities and most people’s first thought is of Venice. But visitors to its smaller neighbour, Verona never fail to be entranced by its beauty and relaxed atmosphere. Verona is best known of course for its historic Roman arena which every summer hosts the world famous opera programme. The social and cultural centre of the city is the marble-paved Piazza Bra but go further inside the city and you’ll find a maze of narrow streets and squares and of course, the famous balcony, immortalised in Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet.

Shopping is an important activity in Verona and there is a daily market in the Piazza delle Erbe, once the Forum in Roman Verona. Nowadays of course, you’ll also find a wealth of boutiques with just about every designer name well represented. As you’d expect, the local cuisine is outstanding! You can stay in Verona on either a ‘stand alone’ 3 or 4 night short break with flights, transfers and accommodation included or add a short break to the start of your chosen Lake Garda holiday.
