3-Centre Rail Holiday
10-11 Nights (Interlaken – Zermatt – Klosters OR Montreux – Zermatt – Davos)
DAY 1: Fly to Switzerland, with rail transfer to your resort. 3 or 4 night stay in Interlaken or Montreux. Transfer to resort is approx. 3hrs for Interlaken, or approx. 1hr 15mins for Montreux from Geneva, or 3hrs from Zurich. Whilst staying in Interlaken, a trip up to the 'Jungfraujoch', the world's highest mountain railway, is a must - or spend some time on Lake Thun and Lake Brienz. Visit the Giessbach waterfalls above Lake Brienz, or the historic city of Thun on Lake Thun, with its impressive castle and charming shopping streets. In Montreux, there's a chance to take the cogwheel railway journey to Les Rochers de Naye for panoramic views, or enjoy a boat ride on Lake Geneva.
DAY 4 or 5: Travel by rail to Zermatt (approx. 3hrs) for a 3 or 4 night stay. Once in Zermatt, why not join the Gornergrat railway to view the glaciers above, or just marvel at the stunning backdrop of the Matterhorn. Enjoy a hot chocolate or cream cake in one of the many charming cafés along the main promenade. There's a lot to discover in this charming traffic-free village.
DAY 8: Board the Glacier Express train for your transfer to Davos/Klosters (approx. 8hrs). Changes of train sometimes required. This journey takes you past glaciers, over bridges and viaducts, and through unspoilt mountain forests, to the pure mountain air of Davos or Klosters. Take advantage of the Free use of local mountain transport in the area by visiting Jakobshorn for great views, or Madrisa or Parsenn for excellent walking opportunities.
DAY 11 or 12: Travel by train from Davos or Klosters to the airport for your flight home (approx. 3hrs).
