Itinerary: Eagle''s Trail
Day 1-2: Arrival (Sat/Sun)
Arrive to charming Walchsee where you will be treated to a welcome cocktail by the Hotel Schick’s friendly staff, who will provide you with all necessary details before the tour starts. On Sunday there is a brief introductory walk into the ‘Kaiserwinkel’ mountain range to meet fellow walkers, acclimatise and relax by the lake.
Day 3-4: Walchsee (Mon/Tue)
On Monday we pass the Lochner waterfalls en route to the Reischer Alm/Hupfen Alm, then continue onto the Brennerkopf summit . On Tuesday we walk through alpine pastures to the Priener Hut (4629ft). Here there is special visit to the ‘Almkaeserei’ where we taste fresh Alpine cheeses at the Burger Alm. Returning via the Karalm, we take in fantastic views overlooking Walchsee. (Walking time approx. 5 hrs).
Day 5-7: Mariastein (Wed-Fri)
On Wednesday we transfer to Griessenau and walk through the scenic Kaiserbach valley up to the high Stripsenjoch ridge (5174 ft). Walking towards Kufstein we descend the hairpin steps before arriving in this delightful medieval town. (Walking time approx. 6 hrs). We arrive at the Hotel Mariasteinerhof in time for dinner. On Thursday we ascend from the hotel to 4593 ft, where a tour guide will help us explore some fascinating ice caves. We return to the hotel by passing over the Angerberg mountain. (Walking time approx. 5-6 hrs).
On Friday we transfer to Kramsach, from where we take the ‘Sonnwendjoch’ gondola up to the high Rosskogel hut (5856 ft). We then hike to the beautiful Zireiner lake and up again to the ‘Rofanspizte’ summit (7411 ft). We pass the Erfurter hut before decending on the ‘Rofan’ gondola to the lakeside village of Maurach, on stunning lake Achensee. Onward transfer to the Hotel Achentalerhof in Achenkirch. (Walking time approx. 4-5 hrs).
Day 8-11: Achenkirch (Sat-Tue)
Unwind in the hotel and the picturesque Achental valley or enjoy further range of guided walks organised by the hotel.
Day 12: (Wed)
Transfer to the airport for your homeward journey. Alternatively, extend your stay for further 3 nights in a resort of your choice (Lech, St. Anton, Ischgl/Galtuer, Obergurgl, Seefeld or Neustift) for more walking possibilities. Return to your regional airport from Innsbruck on Saturday.
