High in the Paznaun valley in the heart
of the stunning Silvretta mountains,
lies the oasis of Ischgl and its charming
smaller neighbour Galtür. Just 10kms
apart, they offer invigorating mountain
air, lush grazing pastures and 300kms
of well-marked trails. This is a real
alpine walkers’ area with rugged trails,
marvellous scenery, and mighty peaks
almost 10,000ft high. One of Austria’s
finest panoramic roads, the ‘Silvretta
High Alpine Route’, stretches from
the Paznaun Valley to the province
of Vorarlberg; this is only passable
in the summer months, and is a unique drive not to be missed! Ischgl has a leisure arena with an indoor pool and there are a few shops and cafés in both villages. The ‘Silvetta Card’ is excellent value for getting around the valley.
