Zell am See is one of the most scenic
and well-loved ‘lakes and mountains’
resorts in Austria. Beautifully located,
directly on the shores of the Zeller
lake, Zell lies next to the Hohe Tauern
National Park and the magnificent Grossglockner
mountain region. As a result many fantastic
excursions start here. Most of the
medieval centre is traffic-free with
a variety of shops and attractive pavement
cafés. Lake activities include swimming,
leisurely boat trips, windsurfing and
waterskiing and Zell’s leisure centre
has an indoor pool. There is also a
36-hole golf course, tennis and horse-riding and other adventure sports are available. In the evenings, the night lake cruise is an enjoyable event and concerts, including Austrian music, are regularly arranged.
