ITINERARY
To make the most of your holiday we include a stay in Vancouver, Victoria or Whistler after your tour + cruise to give you the opportunity to see more of Canada’s spectacular West coast surroundings. Choose between a 3 nights in Vancouver, Victoria or Whistler.
Day 1 & 2 (Tour) : Anchorage Arrive at your hotel in Anchorage and meet your Tour Director who will welcome you to Alaska and spend a free day in Anchorage at your leisure.
Day 3 & 4 (Tour) : Denali National Park Via McKinley Explorer Rail board your luxury domed railcars for thrilling sights from observation lounge and dining car. Late afternoon you’ll arrive at Denali National Park and check into your lodge. Next day embark on the 6 to 8 hour Tundra Wilderness Tour for the most comprehensive wildlife viewing and Mt. McKinley viewpoints. Share the natural history and native culture insights all along the way as you travel miles into the park.
Day 5 (Tour) :
Fairbanks Enjoy a relaxing morning before reboarding the McKinley Explorer for scenic travel to Fairbanks. Check into your downtown hotel for frontier hospitality.
Day 6 (Tour) :
Tok Via Explorer Coach you will be taken in the Trans-Alaska Pipeline and Gold Drenge No. 8 for an in-depth view of local history (lunch incl) and continue on the Alaska Highway to Tok.
Day 7 & 8 (Tour) : Dawson City Travel the Taylor Highway to historic Eagle for a guided tour and a chance to visit the Yukon-Charley Rivers National Preserve Visitor Centre. Then embark on the mv Yukon Queen II catamaran for a cruise up the Yukon River to Dawson City (dinner incl). Enjoy an overnight stay in the heart of this Klondike National Historic Site. On day 8 you have the option of visiting the remote wonders of Tombstone Park and hike with local interpreters for a personal glimpse of natural landscapes two billion years old, or stay in Dawson City and soak up gold rush colour.
Day 9 (Tour) :
Whitehorse Experience true wilderness on your way to Whitehorse, capital of the Yukon (lunch incl). Tonight , kick up your heels at the uproaring Frantic Follies Vaudeville Revue (incl).
Day 10 (Tour) :
Whitehorse & Skagway Via Lake Bennett - This exclusive Klondike Trail adventure features the vintage White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad from Carcross to historic Lake Bennett. Enjoy lunch (incl) and a walking tour then reboard the train to Skagway, a Klondike National Historical Park.
Day 11 (Cruise) :
Skagway Transfer to your Holland America Line ship and embark ms Volendam. Day 12 (Cruise) : Glacier Bay National Park cruising Spend the morning seeing the jagged glaciers, giant ice flows and dramatic ice rivers from an awe-inspiring backdrop to a day of cruising along the 60 miles of breathtaking Glacier Bay - a favovoured haunt of the humpback whale. Nothing prepares you for the stark and stunning beauty of this inaccessible corner of the world. A park ranger will be on board to explain the phenomena of glaciers. The cruise continues south to the long narrow Tracey Arm Fjord with its spectacular views of the twin Sawyer Glaciers, framed by high snowcapped mountains.
Day 13 (Cruise) :
Ketchikan Morning arrival in Alaska’s most southernly town, wedged between the Tongass Narrows and forested mountains. Best known for its Alaskan native culture and the largest collection of standing totem poles. Depart around 6pm.
Day 14 (Cruise) :
Inside Passage Heading south enjoy the breathtaking scenery, watching for wildlife, relax and enjoy the many facilities onboard. Day 15: Vancouver/UK Disembark after breakfast and enjoy Vancouver before going on to your next destination (Vancouver 3 nts or Victoria 3 nts or Whistler 3 nts) or boarding your evening overnight flight back to the UK.
