Itinerary: Western Rail Explorer
Days 1-3: Vancouver Fly to Vancouver with a short taxi transfer to your downtown hotel. Enjoy a walk around Stanley Park, Chinatown, historic Gastown or the shops along Robson Street. A wide range of optional excursions include scenic cruises through the Gulf Islands to Victoria on Vancouver Island, whale-watching trips, or the Sea-to-Sky Highway to Whistler. Days 4-5: Rocky Mountaineer All aboard the world-famous Rocky Mountaineer for a spectacular two day rail journey to the Rockies. First day highlights include Hells Gate in Fraser Canyon, an overnight stop in Kamloops and the optional prebookable Two River Junction Dinner & Musical Revue. Our second day enters the dramatic Caribou and Monashee mountains, with glaciers, waterfalls and wildlife, before passing Mount Robson the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. We arrive late afternoon into Jasper.
Days 6-8: Jasper National Park Jasper town has a friendly laid-back frontier atmosphere and is located in the Rockies’ largest National Park. It offers endless excursion, recreational and walking opportunities. Don’t miss a scenic cruise on Maligne Lake, white-water rafting, or hiking to Angel Glacier at Cavell Meadows. Days 9-13: Banff National Park Start with a spellbinding 230kms trip along the Icefields Parkway, one of the world’s great drives, including an optional snowcoach tour on the Columbia Icefields. We arrive in the lively town of Banff with its many shops, restaurants and excursion possibilities. Highlights include the gondola and hot-springs, Lake Minnewanka, Johnston Canyon, Moraine Lake and Lake Louise. For full resort details see pages 18-19.
Itinerary variations by airport Gatwick, Heathrow and Glasgow guests arrive Vancouver on Thursdays and depart Calgary on Wednesdays.Manchester guests arrive Vancouver on Saturdays and depart Calgary on Fridays. All guests stay 13 nights in Canada.
