Lake Como, Lombardy 654 ft
Picture postcard village amidst breathtaking scenery
Bellagio's natural beauty is enhanced
by its unique position on the extreme
end of the promontory which divides
the southern part of Lake Como. It
has been a world famous resort for
many years yet, despite its popularity,
its cobbled streets, winding alleys,
squares, old churches and shopping
arcades have retained their character.
The narrow streets which rise from
the lakeside are lined with shops and
there is very little traffic in the
centre of Bellagio to disturb you as
you explore. The gardens of Villa Melzi,
close to the resort centre and of Villa Carlottas, just across the lake at Cadenabbia, are a popular visit. Lake ferries and hydrofoils call regularly at Bellagio and enable you to visit other interesting villages dotted along the lake’s scenic shores.
