Hardangerfjord (Sea Level)
The picturesque village of Ulvik, with
its wooden houses and scenic mountain
backdrop, lies in a sheltered bay of
the spectacular Hardanger Fjord. This
beautiful region is known as the orchard
of Norway and in spring, when the fruit
trees surrounding the village are in
bloom, there is a haze of pink and
white between the water’s edge and
the snow-capped mountains. Throughout
the summer the meadows are full of
wild flowers, elk and deer roam the
forests and a network of marked paths
makes the area ideal for walkers. The
region offers a wealth of breathtaking scenery easily reached by public buses and ferries or by joining one of our guided excursions. In Ulvik itself there is cycling, swimming, boating and fishing, folk evenings and dancing, but your enduring memories will probably be of the serenity of the setting reflected in the crystal clear water of the bay.
