Lake Thun is a serene lake with the
old town of Thun and its proud castle
at one end, and Interlaken, with its
wonderful high street and glorious
views of the Jungfrau, at the other.
Lake steamers stopping close to the
hotels regularly visit all the charming
lakeside villages, and provide a delightful
way of exploring the area. Alternatively,
a regular bus service links the lake
resorts with Thun and Interlaken. Merligen
is a peaceful village, with just a
few shops and cafés. Gentle lakeside
walks are well-signposted, and further
well-trodden paths take in sights such as the vineyards and castle at Oberhofen, and the picturesque villages of Faulensee and Beatenberg.
