Day 1 - SaturdayTransfer time Zurich airport to Lucerne - approx. 1 hr. Check in to the charming Hotel Wilden Mann, which is situated in the centre of the town, close to the main attractions. Meet your escorting guide. In Lucerne, you will have the opportunity to take a boat ride on the lake and visit the places immortalised in Schiller’s ‘William Tell’. Alternatively, take an exhilarating cable-car ride to the top of Mount Pilatus for superb views, or explore the quaint traffic-free streets of Lucerne, with its wonderful monuments and historic sights.Day 4 - Tuesday Depart by rail to Davos, to the splendid mountain scenery of eastern Switzerland. Enjoy the pure mountain air, take a funicular ride up to the famous ‘Schatzalp’ alpine garden, with its fabulous display of flowers, take a trip up the Jakobshorn for great views, or enjoy a walk around the pretty lake at Davos Dorf. Transfer time Lucerne to Davos - approximately 3½hrs.
Day 7 - FridayOne of the highlights of your holiday will be a full-day journey on the famous ‘Glacier Express’ train to Zermatt. This journey takes you past some of the most stunning scenery of Switzerland, past glaciers, over bridges and viaducts, and through unspoilt mountain forests, to the wonderful alpine village of Zermatt. We will reserve a 1st class seat for you, with lunch also booked en route (lunch included). Once in Zermatt, take a walk through the narrow streets, over bridges and rushing streams, to explore this enchanting traffic-free village and its charming shops. Alternatively, join the Gornergrat railway to view the glaciers above Zermatt, or just marvel at the stunning backdrop of the Matterhorn. Transfer time Davos to Zermatt on Glacier Express train - approximately 8 hrs. One change of train at Filisur sometimes required.
Day 11 - TuesdayDepart Zermatt for Grindelwald, travelling via Brig and the Loetschberg tunnel to Spiez. Travel along the shores of Lake Thun to Interlaken and on to Grindelwald and the heart of the Jungfrau region. Whilst staying here, a trip up to the ‘Jungfraujoch’ is a must - post a card from Europe’s highest post office! Or, make the most of the fantastic views and wonderful walking. Spend some time on the lakes of Interlaken - Lake Thun and Lake Brienz - to visit the attractive villages and impressive castles along the shores. Transfer time Zermatt to Grindelwald - approx. 4½ hrs.
Day 15 - SaturdayTake the train back to Zurich airport for your return journey home. Transfer time Grindelwald to Zurich airport - approx. 3½ hrs.
