ITINERARY

Day 1 - Wednesday (10nt) or Saturday (11nt) Arrive at Geneva or Zurich airport for your journey to Montreux. Meet your escorting guide. Whilst here, take a cogwheel railway to Les Rochers de Naye where there are lovely panoramic views, or enjoy a relaxing boat ride on the lake. Or why not discover the charms of Montreux itself, known locally as the ‘Swiss Riviera’ because of the abundant flowers and palm trees along the lakeside promenade.
Day 3 - Friday (10nt) or Day 4 Tuesday (11nt) Depart by rail to Wengen on the Golden Pass route. Leaving the shore of Lake Geneva and travelling through tunnels into the mountains and valleys, the train passes the pretty villages of Chateau d’Oex and Gstaad towards Zweisimmen. Your scenic journey continues onto car-free Wengen in the beautiful Jungfrau region. You are spoilt for choice here for things to see and do - why not take a trip to the ‘Jungfraujoch’ on the highest mountain railway in the world, or a trip on the Mannlichen cable-car for Eiger views. Transfer time Montreux to Wengen - approx. 5 hrs.
Day 6 - Monday (10nt) or Day 7 - Friday (11nt) Another scenic journey awaits, combining trains and boats! Travel over the Brunig Pass, and along the shorelines of 5 picturesque lakes to Lucerne - check in to the modern Hotel Radisson SAS, situated close to the lake. Whilst here, take an excursion up to Mount Rigi, a roundtrip involving a boat, the oldest cogwheel railway in the world, and a cable-car! Or discover the charms of Lucerne’s own pretty traffic-free ‘old town’. Transfer time Wengen to Lucerne - approx. 4 hrs.
Day 9 - Thursday (10nt) or Day 10 - Monday (11nt)Depart Lucerne for Lugano, travelling on the ‘William Tell Express’. The journey starts on a paddle steamer from Lucerne and connects with a train from Fluelen to the Italian-speaking lakeside resort of Lugano. Once there, take a funicular to the top of San Salvatore for wonderful views of the lake and surrounding mountains. Or just watch the world go by in one of the many outdoor cafés! Transfer time Lucerne to Lugano - approx. 6 hrs.
Day 11 - Saturday (10nt) or Day 12 Wednesday (11nt)Take the train back to Zurich airport for your return journey home. Transfer time Lugano to Zurich airport - approx. 3½ hrs.
