Villars occupies a privileged position
on a sunny balcony high above the Rhone
Valley, with superb views towards the
Dents du Midi and Mont Blanc Massif.
The village has lots of charm, with
its attractive main street full of
interesting little shops, tempting
cafés and restaurants. Most of the
cable cars, buses and mountain railways,
which link to a host of lovely walks,
are free for Villars guests, and there
are many restaurants which make excellent
lunch stops in the mountains. A journey
on the cog-wheel railway up to Bretaye
is a must. There are countless excursion possibilities within easy reach, such as Les Diablerets with its glacier and cable-car, Montreux and Vevey on Lake Geneva, the salt mines in Bex and the Chateau d’Aigle with its wine museum amongst the nearby vineyards.
