Walking

Separator

Few activities invigorate the senses like walking in the mountains. From May to October the warmer climates around our resorts unveil breathtaking landscapes of snowcapped peaks, rushing streams, meadows of wild flowers and lush green valleys leading to glistening lakes.

You will find a huge variety of walks around our lake and mountain destinations, from pleasant strolls, to longer rambles and more challenging all-day hikes. On resort pages we have included information on the walking opportunities in each destination.

Guided walks
If you enjoy the camaraderie and peace of mind offered by an organised group, guided walks are available in many of our resorts – details are shown in the walking panels on resort pages or under hotel descriptions. Guided walks include:
• Inghams guided Wanderwalks
• Hikes led by local professional guides
• Dedicated walking hotels in Austria
• Walks for mixed nationalities arranged by local tourist offices and hotels (normally free of charge).

Inghams guided Wanderwalks
Exclusively for Inghams guests, these walks are guided by English-speaking professionals and cost only a registration fee of £1 per person per walk, if confirmed at the time of booking. The programmes usually feature two or three walks of various grades. Details of each walk are shown on resort pages.

Most clients with an average walking ability can take part. The minimum age is 14 years, though walks graded “easy” are also suitable for children. For guidance we use the following grading:
Easy Gentle walks with some uphill sections.
Moderate Pleasant rambles, generally on well-marked paths of varied terrain. These usually cover a greater altitude than easy walks.
Slightly challenging Rewarding, more demanding hikes over varied terrain. Trails may be less well-defined in parts. You should be fit and healthy.

Inghams guided Nordic Walking
Nordic Walking exercises the entire body while strengthening the heart and lungs. Join one of our walks in Igls or Westendorf in Austria. Led by a professional guide, these walks are exclusive to Inghams guests and suitable for everyone.
