Discover Ellmau
The attractive village of Ellmau is situated between the rugged Wilder Kaiser (Wild Emperor) mountains and the more gentle Kitzbüheler Alps. Located between the villages of Going and Scheffau, Ellmau lies within the vast SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental Area which links several resorts enabling access to 270km of piste.
Ellmau has wide and gentle nursery slopes which are close to the centre. A ski bus ride to the main lift will open the wider ski area with plenty of intermediate and more demanding runs. And to make your ski holiday even more enjoyable, a ten-seater gondola transports skiers to 1,530m in less than nine minutes, and all cabins have Wi-Fi and heated seats for ascent and descent.
From cosy mountain huts to traditional Austrian eateries Ellmau has a little bit of everything on offer. Many establishments boast panoramic views of the snowy slopes, the perfect spot for an après cocktail.
You can enjoy regional specialties like schnitzel, Tiroler Gröstl, and Kaiserschmarrn at the traditional Rübezahl Alm mountain hut. For those seeking international cuisine, Memory Café & Bar offers options like pizza and burgers.
While Ellmau has a more relaxed après scene than some other Austrian resorts, the region still has the motto "snow, good times & music". You will find live bands and great bars perfect for unwinding after a day on the slopes. Popular spots like Fabels and Ellmauer Alm serve up music, drinks, and a buzzing atmosphere, attracting both locals and tourists.
For a more relaxed vibe, try Memory bar in the village centre, known for its cocktails and friendly service. Many mountain huts, such as Rübezahl Alm, transition from lunch venues to après-ski hotspots with stunning alpine views.
