The high altitude ski area is accessible from the village centre via cable car, funicular or the famous Gornergrat mountain train, which takesyou on a spectacular ride up to 3089m and rewards you with fantastic views of the glacier.

You can choose to ski over to Zermatt's Italian neighbour, Cervinia, for the day on the whole area lift pass, or take on the challenge of the Matterhorn ski safari, where you cover 10,000 - 12,000m of altitude without skiing the same slope or taking the same lift twice!

Ski school's beginners classes meet at Matterhorn Glacier Paradise lifts at the top of the village, where wide, open runs provide good learning ground. Children's ski school meets at 'Wolli Park' on Sunnegga paradise, with magic carpets and rope lifts.

Intermediates skiing in Zermatt

The ski area is perfect for intermediate skiers. All 3 areas, Rothorn, Gornergrat and Matterhorn Glacier Paradise provide a vast range of satisfying blues and reds in all including some glorious runs at the foot of the Matterhorn and several magnificent viewpoints

Advanced skiing in Zermatt

Zermatt has all the criteria sought by the expert skier. The 'Triftji Bumps'mogul field, Schwarzsee's steep gullies and various black runs will satisfy even the most advanced, and the yellow itinerary runs provide very challenging skiing.

Snowboarding in Zermatt

Boarders have the 'Gravity Park' abover Trockener Steg with jumps, rails and a pipe. The terrain provides plentiful surfing ground.
