Our nationwide coverage means that we can provide low cost holiday transfers for any airport in the UK. you can view the full details of this service from our partner, Travel Management Solutions for further information and how to book.

Checking in

Check-in desks open approximately 2-3 hours prior to departure and we recommend you check-in at least 2 hours before. Each passenger must check-in their own luggage as this is an important security check. You will need to produce your e-tickets and passports (e-tickets are checked against passports) and have your baggage weighed. Most airports no longer call out flight boarding details so you must watch the indicator board and individual TV monitors. Inghams cannot accept any responsibility for passengers who miss flights if they fail to check-in at the specified time shown on flight tickets.

Online Check-in

Online check-in is now available on some of our scheduled flights to Europe and North America. We will provide you with an airline locator with your e-tickets approximately 2 weeks before you travel. You will then be able to access your booking via your airline's website 24 hours before departure and pre-book your seats or check-in online.

Online check-in is also not available with any of our charter airlines or low cost carriers. Where seats have been pre-booked on our charter services, exact seat numbers will be provided to you at check-in.

All airlines policy regarding cabin is: You must be able to place and retrieve the item of baggage safely in the overhead lockers without assistance.
* BA – Up to 23kgs but you must be able to place and retrieve the item of baggage safely in the overhead lockers without assistance.
**EZY – Unlimited but you must be able to place and retrieve the item of baggage safely in the overhead lockers without assistance.

***Jet2 - On A chain flights with allocations, paying for additional ski carriage buys 1 x ski carry bag + 1 x boot bag (up to a maximum combined weight of 20kgs). If pax want to take boots only, they must still pay £35 or take as their sole piece of hand luggage.
Airlines, except Easyjet, will allow one personal item, i.e.: handbag or laptop in addition to their hand baggage.

Charter flights

Normally 15-20kg per person (excluding infants) but varies by airline. Your allowance will be shown on your e-ticket.

Low Cost scheduled flights

Carriage of one piece of baggage will automatically be reserved for you.

Other scheduled flights (Europe and USA/Canada)

1 piece per person weighing up to 20kg (23kg on British Airways).
BA Club Europe & World Traveller Plus and Club World have an allowance of 2 pieces per person.

All airlines (including charter carriers) now strictly enforce these limits and will charge for excess baggage, either per kilo or by extra piece. Please check the airlines' websites for the most up-to-date information regarding baggage allowances.

Please note: All baggage restrictions are implemented and enforced by the airline - Inghams does not charge (or receive any revenue) for excess baggage.

Hand Luggage

Passengers (excluding infants) are allowed to carry ONE piece of cabin baggage on board free of charge. Handbag, briefcase, laptops, etc must be carried within your permitted 1 piece of cabin baggage. It should weigh no more than 5kg and not exceed the maximum dimensions of 55cm x 40cm x 20cm. As a guide, your carry-on bag must be able to fit either underneath the seat or in the overhead compartment.

Due to ongoing security restrictions, only liquids in containers of 100mls or less will be permitted through the passenger security screening points. Liquid items must be carried in a transparent re-sealable bag (about the size of a small freezer bag).

Pre-book your Seating Arrangements

To ensure your party sits together, you can pre-book seats on the following airlines: Monarch and Thomson Airways. Simply reserve your seats at the time of booking or up to 12 days before departure for a small charge of £9 per person return to Europe. Please note that seats may be separated by an aisle due to aircraft configurations. Exact seat numbers are given at check-in. Should we cancel or change your airline to one that is not part of this scheme, we will of course issue a full refund.

Pre-book your seats* with Austrian Airlines up to 48 hours before departure at www.laudaair.com/en/services/seat-reservation-info. Your contract for this service is between you and Austrian Airlines, not Inghams.
*Austrian charge for this service and any issues must be directed to them.

Essential Medicines

Essential medicines and medical equipment, eg hypodermic needles required for your holiday may be permitted onboard in larger quantities above the 100ml limit. Passengers must have a note from their GP supporting this.

In-flight Catering

Please check your flight tickets for full details. Meals are served on all transatlantic services. On most short-haul services within Europe a "Buy on Board" service is now offered.

Baby Food

Liquid baby food or sterilised water, sufficient for the journey, can be taken through airport security. The accompanying adult may be required to verify by tasting.

Fuel surcharges

Fuel surcharges were introduced on 1st April, 2011 for new bookings made for Lakes & Mountains and Ski holidays. The fuel surcharges are as follow:

Flight DistanceFuel Surcharge Amount
Short Haul (incl. Finland)£15
Long Haul (North America)£40

Flight Supplements

Charter & Low Cost scheduled flights

Flight supplements may apply on certain dates and routes. You will be advised of the actual price at the time of booking.

Other scheduled flights

Most scheduled airlines have several different 'booking classes' for the same seat. Depending on such factors as aircraft size, day/time of departure, a variable number of seats will be available in each booking class. Airlines operate sophisticated yield management systems and are constantly updating availability and prices. Our reservations system checks for the most up-to-date position. You may therefore be offered different supplements at different times. If you book early you have the best chance of obtaining the lowest price economy class seat.

Advanced Passenger Information (API)

The UK Government requires airlines to collect API for passengers on routes to and from the UK. Airlines will only provide each country's authorities with the relevant information required by them. However, some governments also require airlines to provide them with Passenger Name Records (PNR). Governments of some other countries also require API.

For most countries, API is restricted to the standard information contained in the Machine Readable Zone (MRZ) in machine-readable passports which can be scanned or swiped at airport check-in and transmitted to the country concerned at the time the aircraft departs. However, some countries are now requiring additional information from passengers that isn't contained in passports, or they are requiring it earlier or both, e.g. the USA. The USA has implemented Secure Flight for all flights to, and from within the USA. Accordingly, airlines must provide advance passenger information 72 hours before departure. Additionally, airlines must provide details of your country of residence and destination address in the USA. We are legally required to collect your advance passenger information. You will receive further information before your departure when and how we need to collect your details. If you are travelling into or via the USA, you must obtain ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorisation) ideally 7 days before travel. Information and apply at https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/. An ESTA fee is payable – currently £14 per person.

Please note that any failure to provide the required information may result in your carriage being denied. Please be assured that we have measures in place to protect the personal information you provide us (please see our Privacy Policy).

More information can be found on the home office website.

Airport Transfers

Our holiday prices include return transfers between your overseas airport and resort. Your transfer will normally be by coach, rail or included car hire depending on your resort and flight. We also offer private transfers to many resorts.

Coach Transfers

Our holiday prices include return transfers between your overseas airport and resort. Transfers are normally by coach or rail depending on your resort and flight. Although occasionally it may be necessary to ask you to wait for guests arriving on other flights, we are committed to reducing waiting times to a minimum. Please note:

  • Feeder services may sometimes be used.
  • Adverse weather, unusually heavy traffic or flight diversions may cause delays beyond our reasonable control. On peak holiday dates we may arrange your homebound transfer earlier than normal to allow for extra traffic. If this happens, the decision of our overseas staff is final and we will not be liable for any delays or expenses incurred if you choose to make your own transfer arrangements later.
  • Transfer journey times (exclusive of time spent at the airport) from overseas airports to resorts are shown on resort pages. Times may vary due to traffic conditions, especially during UK and European holiday periods.
  • At airports such as Geneva it may be necessary to ask you to make your own way from the scheduled terminal to the charter terminal or vice versa.
  • At Geneva we may without notice occasionally, and at no extra cost, for operational reasons substitute rail travel to our Swiss resorts for coach travel

Private Transfers

We offer private taxi transfers for the ultimate speed and convenience for guests booking a full package with flights and accommodation. You can book a private transfer up to 14 days before departure, but we recommend you confirm this at time of booking to ensure it is reserved for you. Prices are shown through our online booking process. If booking after your holiday, please contact us for a quote. Infants must be added as an additional passenger as special arrangements apply.

Please note that some scheduled flights have compulsory private transfers; these are shown in the travel sections on resort introduction pages. Stretch limousine transfers are available for transfers to Whistler in Canada. Private transfer prices will be displayed during the online booking process or contact us for a quote.

Swiss Rail Transfers

If you are travelling on a scheduled flight to Switzerland via Zurich (and some scheduled flights to Geneva), your transfer to resort is by the efficient Swiss rail system. Second Class rail is included in the price of your holiday. You can upgrade to First Class at a supplement of £70 return.

If you are travelling to Switzerland via Geneva, transfers are by coach on all charter and some low cost and scheduled flights. You may be able to upgrade your transfer from coach to rail, subject to flight timings, for a supplement of £50 per person Second Class return, or £120 First Class return.

For all travel by Swiss Rail, children under 16 years receive the Family Card. We regret that no amendments or additions to Swiss rail arrangements can be accepted within 14 days of departure.

Swiss Fly-Rail Luggage

If you are travelling on a British Airways/Swiss or Easyjet scheduled flight, the Swiss Fly-rail Luggage system allows you to check in your luggage at your UK airport all the way to your accommodation and back without having to carry or handle it. This service costs just £14 per piece of luggage each way - please indicate at time of booking how many pieces of luggage you will take.

  • Please note this is not available for Verbier.
  • Luggage and skis may not arrive in your resort until the next day, so we recommend you take and overnight bag with essential items for your first night/morning. For your return journey, luggage and skis may need to be sent ahead the evening before departure, so the same advice applies.
  • On the homeward journey, you may only be able to send your luggage as far as Geneva or Zurich airport railway station where you may need to collect it and take it to the airline check-in desks as normal.
  • You cannot book the Swiss 'Fly-rail Luggage' system if travelling on a Swiss Short Breaks (3, 4 or 5 night stays).
  • We regret that no amendments or additions can be accepted within 14 days of departure.

Join our Snow Trains in London and travel through beautiful French and Swiss scenery to the heart of the Alps. Provisional timetables based on 2012/13 timetables are shown below. As an added bonus, there’s no ski carriage charge, as trains are not subject to the same weight constraints as aircraft. Your Inghams representative will meet you upon arrival in resort.

Timetable
These are subject to change but we will send you a final itinerary approximately two weeks before your departure.

You can carry one suitcase, one ski bag and one boot bag per person. Skis are usually carried free of charge. Some services may charge for exceeding luggage allowance. Self-drive to Europe

Save up to £100 per person & gain a sense of independence

Especially popular with guests booking our apartment holidays. No luggage restrictions, no ski carriage charges, stop en route to load up with food and make big savings on wine at the local hypermarket!

If you're staying in an apartment, bed linen and towels are included so you don't need to bring your own. All studios and apartments have well equipped kitchens or kitchenettes usually with a dishwasher to help keep the chores to a minimum.

And a self-drive holiday doesn't mean any reduction in the service you'll receive. Your Inghams representative will be on hand when you arrive to help you settle in, direct you to the ski hire shop and generally help you get your bearings!

Booking couldn't be easier. When you search and select your accommodation online, ensure the "self-drive" option is checked, click book then choose the relevant P&O Ferries, Eurotunnel or Hull Zeebrugge/Rotterdam crossing at the first stage of the booking process. All we ask is that you arrive or depart from your resort on the same day as our flight arrivals.

Price guidelines: Take the flight-inclusive price shown in our brochure and deduct £100 per person (£0 at Christmas, New Year, Half-term and Easter). Call our Reservations Team on 01483 79 11 11 for up to the minute availability and prices.

Chalet and Chalet Hotel holidays. Accommodation in these properties is closely matched to our seats on our charter flights. Therefore the self-drive reductions shown above will not apply to chalet and Chalet Hotel holidays.

Important notes for self-drive holidays

  • You may travel on different outward and return routes, but both crossings must be with the same company. All cars on one booking must travel on the same crossings
  • Whilst every effort is made to arrange the precise dates and times you request, at busy times and in peak periods crossings on popular routes quickly become fully booked.
