Bansko

Set at the foot of the Pirin mountains, Bansko attractively combines old town charm with a modern ski centre on a par with Western European resorts. All skiing is accessed via a 20 minute gondola ride – at the top climb above the tree-line to enjoy lovely snow conditions over 2500 metres. Beginners are well-cared for by the ULEN ski school, whilst intermediates have superb scope on the varied terrain. The Alberto Tomba black run and fun park will also keep more expert skiers and snowboarders well motivated. For après-ski relaxation most hotels provide excellent spa facilities whilst traditional tavernas, known as mehanas and located within the cobbled streets of the old town, are full of warm and lively atmosphere.
