Located in the wild mystical north of Lapland, just two hours from the Arctic Ocean and Russia, Saariselkä first came to prominence as a settlement for gold prospectors. The scenery is stunning with the Arctic wilderness just on the doorstep, the skies often a deep hue of pink and purple, the pines and spruce trees heavily laden with snow. Being so far north, there is a high probability of seeing the Northern Lights. Here you are deep in Sámi country, the colourful native people of Lapland, many of whom work in the resort and have their own reindeer herds in forests nearby. Saariselkä is a great choice for an all-round winter holiday, with a guarantee of meeting Santa for all December arrivals.

Santa's Secret Home (02 Dec- 05 Jan only)
Enter the magical world of Santa and have your photo taken with him. Visit his Elves’ Workshop and meet his reindeer.
Snowmobile Safaris An exhilarating 25 kms ride through breathtaking arctic scenery. Snowmobiles are fun and easy to drive. Drive on your own or share (kids share with adult or towed in sled behind guide).
Husky Safaris Visit our enthusiastic huskies in their scenic wilderness home. Then let them whisk you away through the sparkling winter landscape. Choice of a 2 km or 10 km sled ride.
Reindeer Safaris Meet Rudolph and his friends deep in their silent forest hideaway. Hear about their way of life and enjoy a romantic sleigh ride. Choice of 1 km or 6 km ride.
Visit to Sámi Museum & Inari village (bookable locally only) Learn about the history and culture of these colourful native people of Lapland and visit their museum and handicraft shops.
