Tignes

High up in the world famous Espace Killy ski area, which it shares with Val d’Isère, is the resort of Tignes, renowned for some of the most extensive and challenging skiing in Europe - excellent for intermediates and experts - as well as its unbeatable snow record. The resort itself is composed of 3 main villages: le Lac, le Lavachet and Val Claret, all interlinked by an excellent 24 hour free bus service. Val Claret is the largest of the three and at 2100m has a superb position right at the foot of the Grande Motte funicular. Le Lac and Le Lavachet have a more cosy village feel to them and also offer easy access to the slopes and over to Val d’Isere via the Aeroski gondola. All the villages have a great selection of shops, bars and restaurants and have a lively, friendly buzz about them.
