Winter Park lies in Fraser Valley, high in the Colorado Rockies, with skiing on five mountains renowned for their endless supplies of ‘Champagne’ powder snow. The vast ski area suits all abilities and there is more than enough terrain to keep even the most hard core of skiers entertained for up to two weeks. Winter Park has two clear gains over other resorts in the Colorado area: firstly it’s the closest major ski area to Denver airport, and secondly it is great value for money, with good quality, affordable accommodation and lift passes. The town itself is friendly and unspoilt, the locals are very hospitable, and the nightlife is unpretentious.
