Additional Info
Equipment Hire
We recommend you pre-book your ski packs to help budget your holiday spending. Furthermore, on high season dates we cannot guarantee the availability of ski and boot hire and ski or snowboard school unless these have been booked in advance. Savings on resort prices of ski packs cannot be guaranteed.
Ski and boot hire
Up to three categories of ski and boot are
available in most our resorts in Andorra, Austria,
France, Italy, Switzerland, USA and Canada.
VIP Category
Top-quality racing and competition skis,
brand new this season and most feature the
latest models.
Superior category
High calibre, "performance" equipment, first
winter season in use and regularly serviced
throughout the season.
Standard category
Standard skis and boots can be either lower
calibre "sport equipment" (first or second
season in use) or second season high calibre.
All standard skis are regularly serviced
throughout the season.
In Bulgaria and Romania only one category of ski
and boot is available to pre-book. In many of our
resorts in the USA and Canada we offer special
ski and boot packages (plus individual items in
some resorts) as these represent a considerable
financial saving. Provided you take every
precaution to safeguard hired ski equipment, the
Inghams insurance policy covers you for loss or
damage (see page 321 for insurance details).
Please note, hired skis that were new at the
beginning of the season may look scratched and
no longer new by the middle of the season, but
they will still have well-maintained edges and
bases. Our prices refer to 6 days’ hire (other
durations are available - please enquire
at the time of booking). Please advise our
Administration Department if you require size
11 (or above) ski boots. Your request will then be
passed to the resort before you arrive, though we
cannot guarantee availability.
Helmets for children
We recommend the use of ski helmets in all
resorts. In Italy and Slovenia it is compulsory
for children (up to 13 yrs inclusive in Italy and
up to 14 yrs inclusive in Slovenia) to wear a
helmet on the slopes. Provided free in Andorra,
Lapland and Norway.
Tuition
Separate classes are available for beginners and
other grades. Tuition prices generally refer to
3, 4, 5 or 6 consecutive days. The number of
hours’ tuition per day is given in the relevant ski
pack price panel (see resort pages).
Other variations may be available locally, but we
pre-sell what we consider the most popular
options. Some ski schools do not operate on a
Sunday, therefore when travelling on a Saturday,
one day’s ski school may be missed. However,
we still advise you pre-book a 6-day ticket, as
the price we have negotiated is often cheaper
than booking five one-day sessions locally. In
some resorts the difference is made up by
offering our clients a longer class duration.
Ski schools in some Austrian and Swiss resorts
are closed on Christmas Day, New Year’s Day,
Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Ski schools may
also close early at the end of the season due to
insufficient numbers. We regret that no refund is
available for these days, though some ski schools
lengthen the duration of lessons on other days.
Please enquire locally.
Ski school grading
For France and the Valais region of Switzerland,
please indicate at the time of booking the
standard of ski/snowboard school you wish to
join (e.g. beginner, lower intermediate, upper
intermediate, advanced) by booking the
appropriate level where offered.
Interchangeability
Ski hire
In most our resorts you can swap
superior skis for a snowboard or carving skis (or
vice versa) for part of the week (in Austria,
changeover is only possible on a Wednesday).
In France, VIP skis can be swapped for free and
Superior skis can be exchanged at a supplement.
Ski school
In most resorts in Austria ski school
is interchangeable with snowboard tuition
(changeover on Wednesday).
Lift passes
Lift passes are pre-bookable in all our resorts. In
some resorts more than one type of ski pass
might be available. We offer the choice of pre-booking, where applicable, either whole area or
local passes in as many resorts as possible.
Details of lifts covered are given in the ski pack
price panels on resort pages. Please specify at
the time of booking which pass you require
where we offer a choice. If neither of the passes
offered suits your needs, please book the pass
you require upon arrival in the resort. First-time
skiers (complete beginners) should check the notes under the individual ski pack price panels to find out if special passes are available locally.
Otherwise you are advised to pre-book. You do
not need a passport photo for your lift pass
unless otherwise specified on the individual
resort pages (see the resort information or notes
under the ski pack prices). A deposit or small
charge (approx. 5 Euro) for lift passes may be
levied locally in some resorts. Our prices refer to
6 days (other durations are available at the time
of booking).
Senior citizens and youths
Many lift companies offer senior citizen reductions
similar to those given to the under 15s. These may
be purchased locally. Youth passes, if available,
can be pre-booked. Check the notes under the
individual ski pack price panels for special prices
that may be available to pre-book or purchase
locally. Proof of age may be requested in resort
(e.g. passport).
Non-skiers Lift Pass
Where special passes exist for non-skiers, we
feature these prices under our pre-bookable ski
packs on the resort page. If no special pass is
available to pre-book, we would recommend that
non-skiers purchase suitable passes in the resort
via our representative.
Rail holidays
We offer a choice of 6 or 7 day durations for
equipment hire and passes. Depending on arrival
time in the resort, you may wish to extend the
duration of your pre-booked ski packs. This can
be done by paying a supplement via your
representative in the resort.
Children
We pre-sell children’s ski pack facilities in most
our resorts and special reductions are given in
most cases. We advise that bookings for under
6s are made locally as, in the case of ski hire and
ski school, special prices generally exist. In some
resorts lift companies often allow children to ski
free of charge. The age limits for children vary
from country to country and are given for each
facility in the ‘notes’ column of the Ski Pack
panel for each resort (proof of age may be
requested locally.)
The age of your child given at the time of booking
should be the age he/she will be at the time of
your last day on holiday - not the age at the time
of booking. See resort pages for details of our ski
kindergarten packages for younger children.
USA, Canada and Japan
In the USA, Canada and Japan we offer any
duration of ski packs you require (minimum 6
days). Our ski pack prices refer to a minimum
6 days’ duration with a ‘one day add-on’ for
additional days required.
2 FOR 1 Offers
Where ‘2 for 1’ offers are featured in your resort,
these should be booked against one person for
two items. These offers represent two people for
the price of one - not two courses or two weeks
for the price of one.
14 Night holidays - Europe
Clients booking a 14 night holiday but
requiring ski pack facilities for 7 nights
only should book locally through our resort
representatives.
