Santa Short Breaks
3 & 4 nights in December - Experience the magic of Lapland, Santa's home
Treat yourself and your children to a magical break in Lapland, home to
Father Christmas. Experience an abundance of arctic snow and the awe inspiring
Northern Lights that dance purple and green across the
night sky. We offer a choice of three-night and four-night stays in Levi
and Ylläs, located just north of the Arctic Circle, where high standards
of accommodation and a warm, friendly atmosphere make for a great
stay in either resort. Meet Santa and his elves and help bake
Gingerbread in his workshop hidden deep in the forest. Santa will join
you on your last evening when you indulge in a yummy Christmas dinner
with your family and friends. You will also have the opportunity to
ride reindeer-sleighs or dash through enchanting pine forests on a
snowmobile and husky safari. This is the ideal family break to get you
in the mood for Christmas and whet your appetite for the winter season.

Climate and Clothing
Lapland’s crisp and dry cold is comfortable when you wear
good, protective clothing.
Your Santa Short Break includes the hire of a thermal suit and
boots for all guests over two years old. A thermal suit is an
all-in-one overall worn over your clothing to keep you snug.
Thermal boots have rubber soles and are lined to keep your
feet warm and cosy.

When to go
Our Santa Short Breaks take place throughout December in the
run up to Christmas:
• 3-night breaks depart on Sunday 6 and 13 December.
• Our 4-night breaks depart on Wednesday 2, 9 and
16 December.
Two charming resorts
Choose from two contrasting resorts, both set amidst unspoilt
Lappish scenery:
Levi is the larger resort, sitting 170kms north of the Arctic
Circle. The resort has a charming centre with attractively
lit streets. Levi is also Finland’s most famous ski holiday
resort, hosting many World Cup ski events on its uncrowded,
snowsure pistes.
Ylläs consists of two original Lappish villages. Akäslompolo,
nestled in a stunning woodland setting with a real wilderness
feel, is where you will find our cosy, well equipped log cabins.
You may even spot reindeer roaming the untouched landscape.
Ylläsjarvi, on the other side of the fell, is the location of the Ylläs
Saaga Hotel and apartments with the ski slopes on
their doorstep and within walking distance of a large complex
with bars and cafes.
4 Night Itinerary - Wednesday to Sunday
3 Night Itinerary - Sunday to Wednesday*
• Day 1 - Our Santa Short Break representatives will be
waiting at Kittila airport to welcome you and escort you by
coach to your accommodation. Then shortly after arriving
in resort, you will be fitted with your complimentary thermal
suits and boots. There will be plenty of time to explore your
snowy surroundings, build snowmen, find a tobogan and
throw the mandatory snowballs.
• Day 2 - After breakfast, join us for a welcome meeting to
help you plan your activities for the next few days. Later in
the day a magical jaunt is in store with a visit to one of
Santa’s enchanting workshops. Here you will enjoy an
exclusive private family meeting with Santa Claus. You
can also take part in supervised games and help the elves
bake gingerbread biscuits. Outdoors you can meet Rudolph
the Reindeer, ride on an Icelandic horse, catch the
snowmobile train or have fun tobogganing in the snow.
After all this festive fun, you will be transferred back
to your accommodation.
• Day 3 - (4 night stays only) This day is at your leisure. After breakfast, wrap up warm
and head out for a fun-filled day in the snow.
Make the most of the arctic wilderness by booking some
of our optional excursions that make for an adventurepacked
day for children and adults alike. You can visit the
reindeer farm and experience a reindeer-driven sleigh
ride, enjoy an exhilarating husky safari through pine
forests or take a breathtaking snowmobile ride.
• Day 4 - (Day 3 for 3 night stays) Enjoy a morning and afternoon at leisure. Book one of
our optional winter excursions, have a few hours skiing
on the slopes or wander around the local craft shops.
Then get ready for a festive “Dinner with Santa” in the
evening, including party games and a disco. Tuck into
a gala feast of traditional British Christmas food and
Lappish specialities with meats, salads and vegetables.
The evening gets in full swing with a visit from Santa and
his reindeer; all the children can meet him individually and
receive a trinket and certificate – souvenirs that can be
treasured for years.
• Day 5 - (Day 4 for 3 night stays) After a memorable few days, it’s time to say goodbye to
your new friends. You will be transferred by coach to Kittila
for your flight home.

Excursions take place in either the morning or afternoon, depending on your requirements, and times are allocated locally so they don’t clash with your visit to Santa. Our adventures are highly popular, especially in December, so we strongly recommend you pre-book these before your holiday to secure your place.
Reindeer Safari (Ylläs only)
Meet Rudolph and his friends deep in their silent forest
hideaway. Learn about their way of life, reindeer herding
and husbandry from local English-speaking herders. Then
enjoy a romantic reindeer- led sleigh ride for 1½km across
the snowy landscape. Delicious hot fruit juice and cake
will be served.

Husky Safari (Ylläs only)
Visit the huskies in their picturesque wilderness home.
You will learn about the huskies way of life while huddled
around a campfire inside a traditional Lappish Kota hut.
Cuddle the husky puppies and enjoy a 2km dog-sled ride
through the sparkling winter landscape.

Combined Husky and Reindeer Safaris
(Levi only)
An animal-lovers dream! Visit both the
popular husky and reindeer farms where
you will meet the animals and learn about
both their way of life, from husky races to
reindeer herding. You will enjoy a 1½km
sleigh ride at both farms with a hot drink
and cake served to keep you warm.

Snowmobile Safari
Experience an exhilarating 25km ride
through beautiful scenery, pine forests
and frozen lakes. Snowmobiles are fun
and easy to ride on your own or sharing
with a passenger. Children either share
with an adult or are towed in a snowcovered
pod behind the guide.

Skiing (Levi & Ylläs)
Levi and Ylläs boast some of Lapland’s
most extensive ski areas. Here you can
enjoy snowsure skiing amidst the silence
of the fells, mystic blue twilights and
ethereal rose dawns. Lift passes and ski
hire may be purchased locally from our
representatives in either resort.
