Press release: Dramatic Fjords, Arctic wildlife and the chance to see the Northern Lights

  • Thursday 15th September 2016, Godalming, Surrey- There are few destinations that can boasts as spectacular landscape as Northern Norway from its breathtaking fjord coastline and mountainous landscapes to its snow-covered wilderness and magnificent wildlife.

    New for winter 16/17, Inghams has expanding its Norway programme to include the three or four night Vesterålen Wildlife Adventure, which gives guests the chance to discover the area’s spectacular Arctic wildlife with a once-in-a-lifetime whale watching trip in the beautiful archipelago of Vesteralan, known as the Kingdom of the Whales. Visitors set off from the small town of Åndenes, on a three hour expedition led by a knowledgeable boat crew who will use their detection equipment to give visitors the best chance of seeing these magnificent mammals. The most common sight is the sperm whale but there is also a chance to spot pilot whales, minke whales, humpback whales, dolphins and killer whales. Those wanting to get a closer look can choose to head out on a RIB boat for an extra supplement.

    As well as whale watching the Vesterålen Wildlife Adventure includes a journey along the spectacular National Tourist Route, one of Norway’s most beautiful coastal routes, a visit to Blokken and its ‘Akvakultur’ fish farm where guests can try delicious Norwegian salmon and enjoy a boat trip to the salmon pens, a night-time ‘In Search of the Northern Lights’ safari and a unique experience of watching a classical concert in a former fishing oil tank.
