Today has seen snowfall across France, Switzerland, Austria and parts of the Dolomites in Italy. The snow is set to continue throughout tomorrow with up to half a metre expected throughout central Switzerland. Saturday is forecasted to see further snowfalls across the northern half of the Alps. With the snow Europe has seen in the last 10 days, even last 24 hours, there are more and more resorts, pistes and lifts opening everyday.

Val Thorens, the highest resort in Europe, Les Deux Alpes, Alpe d’Huez, Serre Chevalier, and Les Arcs are now all open for business with the higher slopes providing excellent skiing right now. This weekend Val d’Isère plays host to the women’s downhill and Super G taking place on the OK Race course. Just yesterday the Val d'Isère Office du Tourisme advised that with a combination of piste management, grooming the slopes and artificial snow in Val d'Isère and Tignes are looking good for this weekend. Tignes is also in good shape with 20cm of fresh snow overnight and more on the way.

Tignes, famed for its unbeatable snow record as well its excellent skiing for intermediates and experts, comprises three main villages all with a great selection of shops, bars and restaurants and a lively, friendly buzz about them. Italy caught excellent November snowfalls in the Alps, this cover continues to serve many resorts well including Champoluc and Gressoney in the Monterosa ski area. The last two weeks have brought fresh snow and very low temperatures allowing snow cannons to operate at full capacity in many areas. Cervinia provides reliable top to bottom skiing all the way down from the Plateau Rosa glacier pistes, which hold 215cm of snow base, to the resort. Italy’s huge Dolomiti Superski area has 300km of trails open with 150 open lifts serving them, the resort, made up of 12 resorts, has confirmed that nearly all lifts and slopes in the area will be running for the Christmas Holidays. 56,000 skiers hit the Superski slopes last weekend.
Sauze d’Oulx, Italy- from £449 per person – save £219 per person

At altitude there is good skiing on offer with Zermatt and Saas Fee both offering top to bottom skiing with over two metres of packed powder snow in Saas Fee.
