INGHAMS FORECASTS SKI MARKET RECOVERY WITH NEW
2014-15 BROCHURE SHOWCASING 91 RESORTS
Inghams celebrates its 80th anniversary at the forefront of UK wintersports holidays this winter, and has just launched its new winter 2014/15 brochure, with over 90 resorts in nine different countries. The addition of ten new resorts, no less than 84 new partner hotels, two new Ski Inclusive hotels and six new Inghams chalets reflects the company’s confidence in a ski market poised to grow again as the economy continues to improve. There are also new ‘Learn to Ski’ and ‘Welcome Back’ packages, providing excellent value for beginners, and for skiers and snowboarders returning to the slopes after missing a few seasons during the recession.
A dedicated ‘Learn to Ski / Snowboard’ resort, Oberperfuss, just above Innsbruck in Austria, spearheads the offers for those taking their first wintersports holiday, with a lead price of £699 for a week’s skiing including flights, transfers, half-board hotel, ski equipment, lessons and lift-pass. Five other resorts - Seefeld, Sauze d’Oulx, Kranjska Gora, Morzine and Saariselkä have also been handpicked for first-timers, and offer ‘New to Skiing’ packages featuring equipment, tuition and lift-pass from just £159.
The ten new resorts include Bad Kleinkirchheim, a fantastic intermediates’ resort and home to Austrian ski legend, Franz Klammer; St Johann, Scheffau and Oberperfuss in Austria; Kranjska Gora in Slovenia; Arosa/Lenzerheide in Switzerland, whose ski areas recently linked up to offer over 225km of scenic, high altitude skiing; La Rosière on the French-Italian border; Kronplatz and San Cassiano, completing the company’s ten resort range in the stunning Italian Dolomites, plus Park City/Deer Valley in the Utah Rockies.
As the brochure went to press Inghams was appointed as the exclusive UK partner of the Austrian National Tourist Office in their new ‘Ski Again’ campaign, aimed at “encouraging skiers and boarders who have gone missing in the last few years to fall back in love with the mountains.” On 1 August 2014, great value ‘Ski Again’ packages were launched for those who have not skied for five years or more, including flights, transfers, half-board accommodation, lift-pass and a refresher course with local instructors, to bring skiers quickly back to their previous level – and beyond!
With the continuing demand for ‘added value’ in mind, Inghams has added two new Ski Inclusive hotels in France - the Florimontane in Morzine and Hotel Le Mottaret in Méribel bringing the total to seven hotels with prices from £594 including lift-pass, equipment hire, free lunches or picnics and free wine with meals.
The company’s catered chalet range of 77 properties welcomes six new chalets - one each in St. Anton in Austria, and in Morzine, La Rosière, La Plagne, Méribel and Serre Chevalier in France. Right across the programme, Inghams Plus deals and added value offers bring savings of up to £800 per couple and a ‘Lift pass Price Guarantee’ with fantastic savings on pre-booked ski passes including 2-for-1 offers in Les 2 Alpes, Grindelwald and Wengen.
Recognising the growing number of ‘Silver Skiers’, Inghams has also launched offers for Skiers in their 60’s, with significant lift-pass savings and prices from just €10 for a 6-day pass in Les Arcs and La Plagne in France.
Inghams continues to offer the widest choice of flexible travel options with flights from 27 regional airports and the option to self-drive to any resort in Europe, or travel by train to France and Switzerland.
Hugh Walton, Inghams Executive Director commented: “We saw the first signs last winter of a recovery in the ski market and as the economy continues to gather pace in our 80th birthday year, we’re looking forward to seeing a resurgence in the beginners’ ski market and to welcoming back many of our guests who may have been forced to put their ski holidays plans on hold in recent years. Although chalets and Chalet Hotels have become an important part of Inghams’ business in recent years we’re delighted to be able to welcome no less than 84 partner hotels to our programme for the first time.”
