Verona Arena Opera Programme – Summer 2015

Every year, the Verona Arena launches a superb opera programme running throughout the summer from June to September. Whilst these summer months are the perfect time of year to visit Verona, visitors during this time are also able to enjoy one of the Arena’s grand shows.

The Arena is a truly unique location which adds even more drama and depth to each and every performance. The amphitheatre was built by the Romans, becoming one of the most prominent in the empire. Originally a space for the notorious entertainment of the Roman public games, it was abandoned and left forgotten for a number of centuries.

Rediscovered in the XIX century, it started to serve as a venue for music performances and in 1913, it was a memorable interpretation of the Aida which opened the lyrical season.

This year’s programme includes the Aida too, along with another opera by Giuseppe Verdi, Nabucco. The other masterpieces selected for 2015 are Puccini’s Tosca, Rossini’s The Barber of Seville and Mozart’s Don Giovanni. Most shows are scheduled for several dates offering you a selection of the finest operas to enjoy whenever you are in town though August is undoubtedly the busiest month and if you would like to see the Carmen Gala Concert, this is only scheduled for July 24th.

To avoid disappointment, we do recommend that you contact the Inghams consultants in order to pre-book your tickets and reserve your seats.

While in Verona, Opera enthusiasts can also visit the AMO Arena Museo Opera located in the sumptuous Palazzo Forti. The museum presents the history of Italian opera through both permanent and temporary exhibitions and the museum’s restaurant offers a wonderful dining experience to boot.
