It’s only the start of season but the team here in Morzine are extremely excited to meet our first guests to Chalet La Source and to get everything under way. There are lots of festive events to look forward to as we work are way towards Christmas and can’t wait to share them with everyone.
To get the season off to a fantastic start the resort of Morzine and our neighbouring resort Avoriaz will be hosting an opening season party to celebrate the beginning of what we hope to be an unforgettable season in the mountains. It will give a taster of what’s to expect this year as the entire family can enjoy fun and games along with local cuisine, local fashion and not forgetting live music. The Christmas lights will be twinkling and the festive spirt will be in full swing ready for the celebrations.
Once we are warmed up and feeling festive we can enjoy the delights of Christmas with Santa visiting his Grotto for the younger ones and plenty of mulled wine and cheese to be enjoyed at the Christmas markets for the adults. These aren’t the only things that we have to look forward to…Christmas Eve will bring a spectacular evening across Morzine with the glowing torch light decent followed by the mountains full of colour as the fireworks light up the skies of the Portes du Soleil.
As Christmas passes see in the New Year in style in Morzine with a torch lit descent of the Stade du Pleney then join in with the long-held tradition of everyone counting down in the streets. On the stroke of midnight, you are advised to duck as champagne corks and fireworks are unleashed in celebration!
January brings us the largest husky dog race in Europe which is an epic occasion for people of all ages. Each week we are looking forward to experiencing so many different events and activities that are endless here in the Portes du Soleil. Each year in February, the streets attract crowds to enjoy the Carnival that the entire area of Morzine can embrace with the fancy dress and face painting. The sounds of Carnival will fade into February and the musical talents performing at Snowboxx bring us into March. Morzine will be as close as you can get to the fun without being right in the middle of the action up in Avoriaz. Games, music and good times will take over the Portes Du Soleil yet again. Rock the Pistes will be running alongside Snowboxx so you will be lucky enough to come across live music being performed on stages across not only Morzine but the entire ski area.
