A Fairy Tale Christmas

Our team at St Christoph managed to sneak off to Innsbruck for a few hours this week to enjoy the Christmas markets:

Tis the Festive season, and the Christmas spirit is all around.  With this in mind here in St Christoph we thought we would take the opportunity to visit the town on Innsbruck to experience the Christmas market.

The Innsbruck Christmas market is actually made of 6 separate markets spread throughout the beautiful city all among the backdrop of the glorious snowy peaks. Each market has its own feel but all share the same theme of twinkling lights and a fairy tale atmosphere. The Old town market is set before the famous golden roof, over 70 beautiful wooden stalls are laid out, each selling their own traditional items.  Decorations, candles, arts and crafts, and much more. It is a great place to visit to grab those little trinkets you can use as the classic stocking fillers.

The aroma around the market is tempting. It would therefore have been wrong of me not to try a delicious glass of Glühwein to warm my belly. I couldn’t resist the smell of the street food, deciding to treat myself to a veal sausage and a very generous portion of sauerkraut and mustard. Others chose to indulge in less traditional candy floss, but there is something for everyone.

Children will have a fantastic time being able to enjoy the ice rink, carousel and puppet theatre. They may even get a chance to spot Santa who pops by now and then so keep your eye out.

If you fancied an explore outside of the markets then somewhere not to be missed is the 360 bar, which as the name suggests offers stunning views of Innsbruck and the surrounding mountains all while you enjoy an nice refreshing drink.

The Christmas markets are not to be missed; I know that myself and the team here in St Christoph all thoroughly enjoyed our trip to this stunning city so much so that we shall be running a trip to Innsbruck weekly for any guests who stay here during December.

Innsbruck market is a great way to spend an evening, as soon as the sun sets and the lights come out you can’t help but be in a Christmas mood. So happy holidays and we look forward to seeing you soon.

Alternatively if you would like to visit the Innsbruck Christmas Markets directly, you can stay at the fabulous Hotel Mondschein from £569pp.
