Villaggio Baia d’Ercole is set amidst Mediterranean gardens right on the beach front in the heart of Capo Vaticano on the Calabrian coast. The hotel is about 25 minutes’ drive from the town of Tropea with its clifftop historic centre and there is a shuttle service that runs there from the hotel and back for about €10 per person. Spend days relaxing on the wide beach where the hotel offers a beach service with deck chairs and parasols from April to October (weather dependent). After the beach take a swim in the hotel's pool or enjoy a game of tennis. The hotel's restaurant is set on the coast with panoramic views across the bay and serves local specialties as well as international cuisine. The rooms are decorated in a simple and fresh style and all have a patio, terrace or balcony, making them the perfect beach side retreat.

Double Low Cost Rooms range from 14-30m² and sleep from two to six people. These rooms are about 50 metres from the main building which is separated by a gate and a narrow street. The come with a kitchenette inside or outside on the patio. All rooms come with a double bed, television, air conditioning, safe and hairdryer. Baby cots are available for free on request.

Standard Rooms range from 12-20m² and sleep up to four people with the third and fourth bed being a bunk bed.

Superior Rooms are about 14-16m² sleep up to three people. These rooms are decorated in a modern style and have been completely renovated. They are located in front of the pool and have a terrace or balcony.

Family Apartments are about 20-30m² sleep between three and five people. These apartments have two bedrooms, a bathroom and a balcony or terrace.

Capo Vaticano

The rocky cape of Capo Vaticano, has beautiful beaches, ravines and limestone cliffs that crash into the clear waters of the Thyrrenian Sea. The wide, white sandy beach, marbled by white granite rock formations, is one of Italy's finest. The area has fantastic swimming opportunities in the crystal clear waters. Its towering white granite rock formations stand over 100 metres above sea level, making for spectacular viewpoints along the Tyrrhenian coast. 

There are plenty of good options for eating out in Capo Vaticano. Choose from charming restaurants, to local trattorias. Be sure to accompany your meals with the local wine grown in the ancient vineyards that marble the region. With strong agricultural roots in the area you'll find shops selling the locally made produce including wine, extra virgin olive oil, cheese and the famous Nduja (Calabrian sausage). 

Capo Vaticano is the perfect base for beach lovers, nature lovers and history lovers alike. Its close proximity to historical towns such as Tropea, makes it a great base for exploring the region.

Things to do in resort

Visit the lighthouse

Take a stroll along a short trail to the towering lighthouse that was built in 1885. From here you can enjoy views as far as the Aeolian Islands. 

Beaches

Capo Vaticano has one of Calabrias most beautiful beaches which are great for swimming and bathing

See the coast

One of the best ways to see the coast is from the water. Hop aboard a boat and explore the secluded coves along the coast line. 

Flaura and Fauna

The region is rich in Mediterranean plants. During the spring and summer months fragrant flowers bloom, making it a great spot for nature lovers. 

Ancient Vineyards

The region was once named the 'Land of the Vines' and is home to ancient Vineyards. 

Festival of Nuja 

In August each year food lovers flock to the region for the annual Nuja Festival. Nuja is a local sausage made with bacon, pork and chili peppers. If you're here in August, join the ancient culinary tradition.

The hotel's restaurant serves a selection of local cuisine as well as international dishes. A relaxed bar serves drinks and snacks throughout the day and the Piano bar is open from April to the end of October with evening entertainment and aperitivi.

The private beach is normally open from April to the end of October. It is a natural beach of sand and pebbles where there are parasols and sun chairs for guests to relax on. Beach towels can be rented (approx. €5)
