Crypts & Catacombs Tour from €76 per person (3 hours 30 mins)

Head into the Eternal City’s underground burial chambers and crypts from across the ages to uncover millennia of history. On this tour you’ll visit the fascinating sites of the Cappuccini Crypt that was decorated entirely with human bones, the Domitilla Catacombs (an ancient Christian burial ground) and the Church of San Clemente that has a pagan temple with ruins reaching 57 feet deep.

Trastevere Evening Food Stroll from €121 per person (3 hours 30 mins)

Join a passionate local food and wine expert through Campo de'Fiori, the Jewish Ghetto and Trastevere. Visit celebrated bakeries, delicatessens and wine bars to taste some of Rome’s culinary delights. You'll be introduced to specialties like supplì (steaming rice balls with mozzarella) and pizza ‘al taglio’. After, relax in a typical trattoria in Trastevere for dinner and taste different pastas accompanied by local wines.

Pasta Making & Tiramisu from €88 per person (3 hours)

As any Italian will proudly tell you, the best cooks in Italy are the beloved ‘Nonne’ (grandmas).  This class is a chance for you to learn to cook recipes that have been passed from generation to generation. You'll be welcomed with drinks and antipasti before you begin cooking. Discover how best to stuff ravioli, create the distinct tortellini twist and cook up a delicious ‘sugo’ (sauce) to perfectly coat fresh tagliatelle or fettuccini. Finish off by learning how to make tiramisu.

Pizza & Gelato Making Class from €110 per person (2 hours 30 mins)

Learn how to make two Italian staples - pizza and gelato. Make pizzas from scratch, knead the dough and cover with your favourite fresh seasonal toppings, to get those mouth-watering flavours only achievable in Italy. Then with the help of an expert chef, make some creamy gelato. The reward comes at the end when you'll sit down to enjoy your food with a glass of wine, beer or a soft drink.

Things to see and do

With more than 3,000 years of history, there is more to see here than any other city in the world. Most of its wonders are not in the museums but in the streets, so it’s just as enjoyable to simply stroll around the city centre and take in the unique atmosphere.

• Vatican City and the Sistine Chapel: Spend at least half a day here as the museums and grounds cover around seven kilometres of exhibits, most notably Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel. Arrive early to beat the crowds
• The Colosseum: One of Rome’s most iconic landmarks. For over 450 years this impressive arena drew in the crowds as it hosted deadly gladiator combats, animal hunts and re-enactments of famous battles
• Palatine Hill & Imperial Forum: The Roman Forum was at the very heart of ancient Rome and has some of the city’s best-preserved monuments
• Pantheon: One of the best-preserved buildings of ancient Rome, dating back  to 27 AD
• Spanish Steps: We love the bustling atmosphere around the 135 steps that link Piazza di Spagna and Trinita dei Monti Church. The area boasts its fair share of gelateria too!
• Trevi Fountain: Tucked away in a small piazza, the fountain is a must-see to admire the intricate marble details
• Villa Borghese Gardens & Museums: These centrally-located gardens offer a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. There’s more than 148 acres of grounds to explore
• Piazza Navona: Impressive baroque fountains, including the famous Fountain of the Four Rivers, take centre stage here and the piazza is surrounded with lively cafés and restaurants
• Trastevere: For a taste of authentic Rome, hop across the River to Trastevere. It’s a great place to have dinner

Food & drink

While you're in Rome, make sure you try some of our favourite dishes. Spaghetti Cacio e Pepe is a simple yet elegant dish with spaghetti cooked with parmesan and black pepper. Carciofi alla Romana or ‘Roman artichokes’ are very popular too. Try them deep fried or steamed with garlic and herbs. Try Rome's take on pizza with pizza al taglio. They're a range of personal pizzas or flatbreads with fresh toppings, best eaten in front of a fountain in a piazza.
