Proudly run by the Leoni family, the Hotel Du Lac is one of the many jewels of Bellagio, its primrose exterior a warm contrast to crystalline waters on which it stands. Inside, its antiquated charm is combined with modern, bright and airy rooms many of which have lake views. The property also boasts an onsite restaurant and coffee shop that even the locals will wax lyrical about as the colonnade draped in grape vines is the place to be to watch the sunset over the great lake with an Apperitivo! You can also arrange locally to take an a la carte dinner here, though you may not have room as their abundant buffet breakfasts are rich with homemade pastries and jams, fresh fruit and as well as some hot options!
For those wanting to explore this spectacular region, the port of Bellagio is just a five minute walk away and the Villa Carlotta - a botanical garden the walls of which are adorned with the works of Canova, Thorvaldsen and Migliara to name but a few - is just 3 kilometers away on foot through the central village. Down at the port, there are various attractions including the newly introduced 'Food Tour' boats which will take you to visit each resort on the lake for a taste of their individual specialties.
Just 20 minutes from the Hotel Du Lac is the Hotel Bellagio Sporting Club where you can access the large outdoor swimming pool, solarium and steam bath free of charge. The pool is split into two sections for adults and children and has a phenomenal panoramic view of the surrounding mountains as well as the lake below. Use of the club's tennis courts is also available for you to book and pay for locally. Or if you would rather make your way back to the hotel at the end of a long day of exploration, the botanical rooftop garden awaits you where you can watch the sapphire waters of Lake Como turn a gorgeous shade of amber as the sun sets behind it.
