Hotel Britannia Excelsior represents good value for money in a great location on Lake Como. The lake's a stone's throw away and this is where you'll find the hotel's best feature - Europe's largest floating pool. Take a dip in the pool or park yourself on a sun lounger for the day and enjoy drinks from the poolside bar.

The ferry port's not far from the hotel so you've got great links to other resorts on Lake Como. If you fancy a walk and want to stretch your legs, head south down towards Tremezzo where you can stop for a drink and a spot of lunch. It’s about two and a half kilometres each way and the footpath follows the lake.

The hotel itself dates back to the 19th Century and you'll find traditional furnishings and decor throughout. We've chosen Deluxe Rooms for our guests that offer more space and comfortable amenities. Rooms with a lake view are available for a supplement. With the platinum all-inclusive upgrade included as standard with Inghams, you'll find you have plenty of choice when it comes to dining. Take advantage of the à la carte restaurants and enjoy authentic pasta dishes in Simply Pasta, fresh seafood at The Cove and uninterrupted lake views at our favourite, the Lido di Cadenabbia Restaurant where they serve an all you can eat Brazilian barbecue (reservations are required for à la carte restaurants). You'll be able to choose a range of local drinks including spirits and tea & coffee at three bars, including those at the sister hotel, Bazzoni. To end an evening, we had great fun in the hotel's Bubble Bar, located on the bottom floor. Here you can enjoy a drink and live music and dancing. It's great fun.

Transfer time: approx. 2 hours by coach from Milan Malpensa airport.

It has been a popular health resort with the British since Victorian times – indeed Queen Victoria herself chose to holiday in Cadenabbia and one of the country’s first Anglican churches was built here in 1891. Other notable heads of state who have sojourned here including Nicholas II, Kaiser Guglielmo II and Pope Pio XI; Mary Shelley wrote about Cadenabbia as long ago as 1844, and a few years later Guiseppe Verdi composed Traviata in the peace and quiet of Villa Ricordo (Villa Margherita).
