Peschiera Holidays

Make memories in Peschiera, Lake Garda's most family-friendly resort

Peschiera's one of the most relaxed towns on Lake Garda and fantastic for family holidays. Despite being quite large, it has a very laid back feel and it isn't packed with tourists, unlike some of the more well-known resorts. The town has a real charm to it. There are some great walks along the River Mincio – the footpaths follow the old medieval walls. The centre's completely pedestrianised with lots of shops to browse and riverside cafés to stop off for a drink.

What to see on a Peschiera holiday

Peschiera's a great base – it’s one of the only two towns in Lake Garda with a train station so you can easily get to Verona or Venice. There are regular ferries to all resorts in the south of the lake and you can use the bus to get to the north. There are also two beaches that are around a ten-minute walk from the centre so you can have family day by the lake. Alternatively, fuel your family's adrenaline with a trip to Gardaland or Caneva World, both are a short bus ride away- the children will love it!

Things To Do

Things to see and do

Peschiera’s train station makes it perfect for a sightseeing holiday. You and your family can hop on a train and be in Verona in around 15 minutes and Venice in under two hours. Don’t overlook the smaller cities though – both Padua and Vicenza are fantastic places to visit.

Use the ferries to explore the rest of Lake Garda, regular services run to Bardolino where you can sit by the lake with a glass of rose for lunch. Or you might want to spend the day in Sirmione – make sure you try the ice cream if you go! There’s plenty to explore in Peschiera itself too. We like walking along the 16th century walls and heading out to visit the nearby vineyards and olive groves.

Food & drink

A trip to Italy just wouldn’t be the same with joining the locals for aperitivo. If you’re down by Peschiera’s harbour at around 6pm, drop into Tortuga restaurant. The prices are reasonable and you get good views of the lake.

Activities

Peschiera is a good starting point for cycling along the promenades and making your way around the lake. Do it all or split it into parts by using the ferries. The route to Mantova is the main attraction for cyclists– it runs through Micio park and is well signposted for the whole 42 kilometres.

Your children will love the theme parks that Peschiera has to offer. Gardaland' huge and full of things to do, from aquariums to rollercoasters and water rides. If you're really feeling the heat then a great place to cool off is Caneva Aquapark; it's an aquatic paradise!
