Hotel Mediterraneo is located just outside the centre of Sorrento and boasts spectacular views over the Bay of Naples from its cliff side position.

The hotel has been carefully thought through to make the most of its spectacular location. Head to the Vesuvio Roof Restaurant for fantastic local dishes that can be enjoyed alongside the panoramic views from the terrace, and the sophisticated White Bar offers signature cocktails and complimentary apetisers that are served in time to witness the dramatic sunsets over the bay. For a truly spectacular evening, reserve a table at the Vista Sky Bar where the views are uninterrupted and you can enjoy the evening entertainment of DJ sets or live jazz (open during summer only - Tuesday, Friday and Sunday, weather dependent).

The hotel's grounds are well-kept and you'll find a lovely pool equipped with sun loungers and umbreallas, with a poolside restaurant on hand for a light lunch. The interiors have been finished in fresh tones of white and blue that give the property a modern feel. Those wanting to explore will find the centre of Sorrento around a 20-minute walk away, or you can take the complimentary shuttle that runs at set times during the day.

Sorrento

These fascinating historical sites are an easy day trip from Sorrento. Famous Pompeii draws hundreds of visitors each day while Herculaneum is lesser known but its location closer to Mount Vesuvius means its better preserved and well worth a visit. Capri & Anacapri (full day)

This popular excursion showcases some of the best sights on the glamorous island of Capri. Your day will start with a visit to Villa San Michele - Built by Dr. Axel Munth in the beginning of the 19th Century, this beautiful villa boasts some of the best views on the island from its terraces and manicured gardens. The next stop will be bustling Capri Town to explore streets that are filled with designer boutiques, local craftsmen and chic cafés, before heading to the Gardens of Augustus in Anacapri that overlook the famed Faraglioni Rocks. You’ll then enjoy some free time on the island or make an additional stop at the incredible Blue Grotto (additional fee) before heading back to Sorrento in the early evening.

Here you'll have time to explore the town or there is the option to take a boat trip to admire the dramatic Almalfi coastline.  Next, you'll head to Ravello where you’ll visit Villa Rufolo that gave Wagner the inspiration to create one of his most famous operas, Parsifal.

Pompeii & Vesuvius (full day)

This full day excursion takes you on a guided tour of one of the most fascinating archaeological sites of ancient Rome. This unsuspecting town was buried by the devastating eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D. before being carefully excavated to allow visitors are rare insight into ancient Roman life. An expert guide will lead the group around the most interesting buildings and bring history to life. A coach will then take you to within 1,000 metres of the top of Mount Vesuvius where you will walk the rest of the wat to the crater (wear comfortable shoes) and enjoy panoramic views across the Bay of Naples.

Sorrento Musical

Enjoy a fun evening of musical theatre at the Tasso Theatre. The show lasts 75 minutes and reconstructs Sorrento’s cultural roots through song and dance in a light-hearted and energetic performance. You’ll enjoy a welcome drink at 8.30pm and orchestra music before the show begins and 9.30pm. The evening continues after the performance with the opportunity to stay and enjoy the music.

Almalfi Coast Experience (Full Day)

Take in the dramatic panoramic views as you drive along the Almalfi Coast. First you'll stop at Positano, the colourful clifftop village, where you'll have fee time to wander the cobbled streets and explore the small independent boutiques and cafes. The drive will continue through the picturesque villages of Praiano, Furore and Conca di Marini until you reach Almalfi. Set on the waterfront below the coastal cliffs, you’ll have the chance to explore this historic maritime town, known for its hand-made paper production. This whitewashed gem was once an important trading point between the Byzantine and western worlds. After, you’ll head to the hilltop town of Ravello with its breath-taking Terrazzo dell’Infinito. From here you can admire the turquoise and blue tones of the water, the dramatic coast line and the elegant villas and lush gardens, before heading back to Sorrento.

Ischia Island (Full Day)

The volcanic island of Ischia is the largest island in the bay of Naples. Take a jetfoil crossing from the port of Sorrento to Ischia where you’ll be guided around the island with its sprawling spa towns, luscious gardens and spectacular scenery. Visit La Mortella Gardens, created by the English composer Sir William Walton and his wife Lady Susanna Walton. Admire the rare and exotic plant life, the vibrant flowers and the colourful birds of this lush oasis on the volcanic island.

Paestum & Buffalo Farm (Full Day)

Enjoy a day spent exploring the magnificent Greek Temples of Paestum and sampling the regions delicacy, Mozzarella. First, you’ll visit the ancient archaeological site of Paestum, the Doric temples are some of the best preserved Greek temples in the world. A visit to the museum will give you an insight into the fascinating history of the archaeological site. Here you’ll see ancient artefacts, sculptures and tomb paintings discovered during excavations. After visiting the temples you’ll head over to a local farm where the famous buffalo mozzarella cheese is produced. Discover the process of mozzarella cheese making as you are taken on a guided tour of the farm. You’ll have the chance to taste the delicious produce.

Herculaneum (Half Day)

Naples Experience (Full Day)

Naples, a city bursting with art, music and culture. Explore the historical centre of Naples on a guided tour visiting Naples Cathedral to admire the beautiful 4th century mosaics in the baptistery, exploring San Lorenzo at the centre of the ancient Greco-Roman city and the famous ‘christmas alley’ of San Gregorio Armenio. Continue with a walk along Spaccanapoli with its picturesque narrow streets and monuments, passing San Severo Chapel home to the incredible sculpture of the Veiled Christ by Giuseppe Sanmartino, until you’ll reach Piazza del Gesu. Here you’ll stop for lunch to enjoy a delicious local Neapolitan pizza. The tour continues by bus up to Posillipo Hill to see the breath taking view across the bay of Naples. In the afternoon, continue to explore the city as you head towards Piazza del Pleibiscito. Vesuvio Roof Restaurant features a stunning panorama over the Bay of Naples and a lovely terrace from which to enjoy the views. Chef Giuseppe Saccone serves traditional recipes using fresh, local ingredients during the evenings including homemade pasta and freshly-caught seafood.

Aqua Pool Lounge offers a casual setting next to the pool with delicious dished like grilled meats, salads and traditional pizzas on the menu. During summer, the restaurant sometimes opens during the evening with show cooking and live entertainment. 

White Bar is an elegant space for a sophisticated drink during the evenings. Head there between 6pm and 7.30m for a pre-dinner drink and complimentary apetisers while you enjoy the sunset.

Vista Sky Bar is an unforgettable space with comfortable seating, well-prepared cocktails and uninterrupted sea views. It's open on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday (weather dependent) during summer months and reservations are recommended.

Pools & Beaches

The hotel's freshwater pool is open from May to October and boasts a Jacuzzi and is equipped with sun loungers and umbrellas. Those that prefer the sea will appreciate the direct access to La Marinella beach (sunbeds and umbrellas are payable locally, normally open from 20 May - 20 Sep - weather dependent) where you'll find furnished bathing platforms and the opportunity to charter boats.
