The Adler Thermae Spa Resort is pretty much everything you imagine when you picture a luxury hotel in Tuscany. The views of the rolling Tuscan hills look like they’ve been plucked out of a magazine. You can enjoy them from almost everywhere in the hotel but we love them best from the outdoor pools. They use the natural thermal waters of nearby Bagno Vignoni and it’s so easy to spend an entire day here. The pools continue inside; in fact they stretch over 1,000 square metres. The rest of the spa facilities are as equally impressive. High end wellness programmes and an almost endless choice of massages and beauty treatments can be booked and paid for locally.

We recommend hiring a car if you’re planning to get out and explore. The hotel’s in the south of Tuscany within easy reach of the stunning Val d’Orcia and towns like Pienza and Montepulciano. There’s lots to do at the hotel too if you’d rather stay put. Use the hotel’s bikes to explore Tuscany’s hills and vineyards. Both mountain bikes and e-bikes are free to hire (subject to availability). Join a guide on one of the free daily walks or bike rides to really get to know the area. There’s also a daily programme of yoga, pilates and aquagym that you can join. If you’re travelling with kids, there’s a club for them too with supervised activities.

Tuscany has some of the best cuisine in Italy and we’re fairly sure the best cuisine in Tuscany can be had at the Adler. The food is gourmet and uses local, high quality ingredients. It’s served in the courtyard so you’ll be dining al fresco in the summer. There’s a great wine list to go with the food and many of the labels are from the hotel’s own winery. After you’ve tried a glass, book a tasting at the winery itself to see how it’s produced.

Car hire is recommended for this hotel. Hotel Adler Thermae Spa Resort is approx. 2 hours 25 mins from Pisa airport.

Siena & Chianti

Siena is a province in Tuscany that specialises in medieval cities with spectacular panoramas. Siena is also the name of the provincial capital city. Here, you can sip an espresso in Piazza del Campo, explore the monochrome Siena Catheral, or climb the 14th-century Torre del Mangia for 360-degree city views.

The province of Siena also encompasses the Chianti wine region. Not only does it produce some of the most famous wine in the world – it’s also a spectacular patchwork of rolling green hills and rustic villages. Join a wine tasting tour to learn more about the Chianti wine varieties, including Chianti Classico.

Inghams operate a telephone Rep service in Sinea and Chianti.

The impressive pools of the Adler Termae’s five-star spa uss natural waters that are heated to 36 degrees and look out over the stunning Tuscan countryside. The hotel’s restaurant is located in the romantic courtyard and offers sensational dishes to be enjoyed al fresco – a retractable roof is used for when the weather is less pleasant. Seasonal local specialities include Bistecca alla Fiorentina as well as other Tuscan and Mediterranean dishes, all of which are accompanied by fine wines. Taste the Aetos Wine, produced by the hotel owners and try the hotels home made olive oil and home grown herbs.

The Piano Bar is an ideal spot for a pre or post dinner drink, with a cosy atmosphere and music. For cocktails, head to the panoramic terrace -  we can recommend the hotel's own "Negroni Barrique Adler" cocktail
