Montepulciano Country Resort is a lovely, typical Tuscan farmhouse. It’s surrounded by countryside and vineyards. Cypress trees line the driveway as soon as you enter the property – everything about this place just feels very Tuscan. There’s two farmhouses that have been converted and now offer comfy apartments that range from studio to two bedroom. Each one has a kitchenette so there are facilities to cook for yourself. There’s a nice pool in the gardens with loungers and parasols too.

The location’s good for exploring. You need a car to get out and about but Montepulciano is only a short, five kilometre drive away. It’s a town known for its wine and there’s plenty of places to stop for a tasting. The most famous wine, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, is produced in the vineyards next to the hotel. You can buy a bottle in the onsite shop and enjoy it from the comfort of your own apartment or in the nice gardens and courtyard.

Car hire is recommended for this hotel. Montepulciano Country Resort is approx. 2 hours 15 mins from Pisa airport.

Siena is a province in Tuscany that specialises in medieval cities with spectacular panoramas. Siena is also the name of the provincial capital city. Here, you can sip an espresso in Piazza del Campo, explore the monochrome Siena Catheral, or climb the 14th-century Torre del Mangia for 360-degree city views.

The province of Siena also encompasses the Chianti wine region. Not only does it produce some of the most famous wine in the world – it’s also a spectacular patchwork of rolling green hills and rustic villages.
