A smart hotel that is ideally located in the heart of Ålesund directly opposite the picturesque old fishing port and Brosundet canal. This means there are some great views of the fjord and mountains. The harbour is only a short walk away, so the hotel a great base from which to explore the bustling port and Art Nouveau district of this seaside town.

All the bedrooms are tastefully decorated. Choose the spacious deluxe rooms for a view of the fjord and Sunnmøre Alps as they are located on the fifth and sixth floors of the hotel.

The hotels café, Wayne’s Coffee, is located on the ground floor and is where the breakfast buffet is served. Wayne’s Coffee is also open all day serving its own brand coffee and freshly baked pastries, a great stop midst your Ålesund discoveries. Nearby the hotel there is a good selection of bars and restaurants serving international cuisine. A guest favourite is the XL Diner that is just a couple of minutes’ walk from the hotel and is one of Europe’s largest Bacalao restaurants, a must try whilst in Ålesund.

Ålesund is a bustling port and fascinating seaside town. It faces the Atlantic Ocean and is the entrance to some of Norway's most dramatic fjords and areas of outstanding natural beauty. Due to its position, it enjoys more days of sunshine throughout the year than areas deeper into the fjords. The town is built in an Art Nouveau style, with lots of towers, spires and medieval ornaments that are still there today. There are many many museums and a variety of interesting day trips to the surrounding islands and skerries of local fishing communities dating back to the Viking era.

Making an excellent destination in its own right, it is great for a week or long weekend Ålesund can also be enjoyed as part of a multi-centre holiday.

Fjord Explorer will travel from Bergen, through the fjord towns of Balestrand and Loen before the final destination of Ålesund.

Glaciers & Coast will split your holiday in two by combining Ålesund with Loen.
