Ratings/reviewsClick for full ratings

One of Norway’s listed ‘Historic Hotels’, the Hotel Brosundet enjoys an excellent location right on the quayside overlooking the old fishing port. With the hotel’s walls extending directly into the waters of Brosundet canal, enjoy a stay right on the quayside! Ålesund centre is well situated and when you’re ready to explore, discover that a selection of restaurants and shops are just a stone’s throw away, whilst the main harbour area is a pleasant 8 minute walk away.

The attractively-furnished hotel is located inside an old warehouse that has been carefully converted into a hotel- many of the original beams remain exposed. The lobby area and restaurant have recently been renovated to give off a modern and warm Nordic feel. The Brosundet offers a great continental breakfast and views over the canal, which is a great way to start your day. Visit the hotel’s Apotekergata No.5 restaurant for the catch of the day for dinner or enjoy a drink in the Arkivet Bar which boasts an extensive wine cellar. Alesund

Ålesund is a bustling port town facing the Atlantic Ocean at the entrance to the region of outstanding natural beauty and some of Norway’s most dramatic fjords. Due to its position, it enjoys more days of sunshine throughout the year than areas deeper into the fjords. It’s known for the art nouveau architectural style in which most of the town was rebuilt after a fire in 1904. In addition to the many museums, there is a variety of interesting day trips to the surrounding islands and skerries of local fishing communities dating back to the Viking era.

Making an excellent destination in its own right, it is great for a week or long weekend (using non stop flights from Gatwick on Fridays and Mondays). Ålesund can also be enjoyed as part of our Fjord Explorer multi-centre tour or in a combination with Loen on Nordfjord on our Glaciers & Coast 2-centre combination.
