Explore western Canada on an incredible escorted journey from sky to sea, traveling through craggy Rocky Mountain passes, glacial valleys and breathtaking National Parks. From Calgary to Vancouver you'll follow the wild paths of fur traders, gold prospectors and cowboys as you pass through charming mountain resorts, prairie frontier towns and sophisticated port cities. Canadian wildlife is rife in the west, search for elk, mountain goats, bears and whales.
Day 1 - Arrival in Calgary (Saturday)
Arrive into Calgary’s International Airport and transfer independently to your downtown hotel. After an individual check-in, the remainder of the day is free to explore the streets of this dynamic city. Try the local cuisine, shop in the many unique boutiques or stroll the pathways of the Bow and Elbow Rivers that border much of the area. Your tour director will make contact in the late afternoon.
Day 2 - Calgary to Banff National Park / Canmore (Sunday)
You'll see an early start this morning to tour the sights of Calgary, admiring the modern and historic landmarks such as the Calgary Tower, Fort Calgary and the skyscrapers of the commercial district. Leaving Calgary behind we set our sights on the Rocky Mountains. You'll get to experience the majesty of the mountains on your journey through Banff National Park where a tour showcases the impressive peaks, glaciers and pure lakes of the Banff region.
Day 3 - Canmore / Banff National Park (Monday)
An entire day is at leisure to tour Banff and discover the numerous boutiques and specialty shops along Banff Avenue. An optional full-day tour to the Columbia Icefield starts with a visit to the turquoise waters and spectacular glacier of Lake Louise, the jewel of the Rockies. From the unsurpassed beauty of Lake Louise you'll enter a rugged wilderness and travel up the world famous Icefields Parkway. At the spectacular Columbia Icefields an Ice Explorer vehicle awaits to take you onto the surface of the ancient Athabasca Glacier.
Day 4 - Canmore to Kamloops (Tuesday)
Following a route charted by the railroad engineers and fur traders of the mid 1800s you'll travel along the famed Trans-Canada Highway. Crossing into British Columbia’s Yoho National Park you are treated to a dazzling display of vast icefields, deep canyons, dense forests and glacier-fed streams. After passing the Monashee and Selkirk mountain ranges you'll arrive in the rugged town of Kamloops.
Day 5 - Kamloops to Whistler (Wednesday)
Setting off on a drive through the ranch lands you can expect a day of dramatic scenery changes as you head for the coastal mountains surrounding Whistler. Upon arrival in this world renowned resort an optional Float plane sightseeing tour will offer the best views over volcanic peaks, sparkling glaciers, Alpine lakes and rolling meadows. Alternatively relax and discover the many restaurants, shops and bars Whistler village has to offer.
Day 6 - Whistler to Vancouver (Thursday)
Today you drive south along the spectacular Sea-to-Sky Highway The afternoon is set aside for you take some time and discover more of this coastal gem.
Day 7 - Vancouver (Friday)
An entire day at leisure to further explore the cosmopolitan city of Vancouver. Shop down Robson street, relax in Stanley park or simply stroll the markets of Granville Island. An optional full-day tour to Victoria will allow you to admire the charming provincial capital with proud maritime heritage. There will be plenty of time to visit the Butchart Gardens showcasing one of the world's greatest floral displays before taking the ferry back to Vancouver.
Day 8 - End of Tour (Saturday)
Bid Canada farewell before some last minute shopping for souvenirs to remember your amazing trip. Individually transfer to Vancouver’s International Airport in time to check in for your return flight.
