The enchanting village of Talloires, France, with its picturesque old houses and renowned hotels and restaurants, is an ideal choice for a restful holiday. Lying by Europe's cleanest lake, just 9 miles from Annecy, the "Venice of the Alps", Talloires is steeped in history. An abbey was founded here in 1016 and it used to be a Roman staging post on the Milan-Strasbourg road. The resort is sheltered by imposing mountains and offers colourful walks both by the lake and in the surrounding hills.
With its lakeside position and natural beaches, Talloires holidays are ideal for boating, water sports, tennis and golf; and for guests at most Talloires hotels, many activities are free. Explore the beautiful nature reserve of the Roc de Chère, the impressive waterfall at Angon or the lovely village of Menthon with its fairytale castle. Or just relax and discover why this perfect little village is a Mecca for devotees of fine cuisine.
