Italy, Lake Garda
Peschiera is situated where Lake Garda’s waters flow southwards to form the River Mincio. Striking medieval walls fortify the river borders of the Old Town. Peschiera’s focal point is the delightful pedestrianised centre with bustling streets full of all kinds of shops, churches and riverside cafés. Locals and tourists relax here in the evening as colourful lights reflect in the waters of the Mincio. The resort has two beach areas, both a 10 minute walk from the centre, a small harbour and pathways that lead along the old walls. It has a train station and a regular ferry service connects it to other lakeside villages. For families, both the Gardaland and Caneva World theme parks are a short bus ride away. Our hotels in Peschiera promise you a pleasant stay.
A night at the opera in the ancient arena in Verona must surely be one of life’s great experiences even if you’re not an opera buff. The 2017 programme (23 June - 27 August) sees the return of the all-time favourite Aida by Verdi loved for its lavish scenery and costumes. But there are also performances of Rigoletto and Nabucco by Verdi as well as Tosca and Madame Butterfly by Puccini. If you are staying in any of the main resorts on Lake Garda, such as Peschiera, we can book most performances (listed on the Verona opera page) and transport to and from Verona is included in addition to your opera ticket.
