Fjordside village on the picturesque Hardangerfjord

Lofthus is a small pretty village located on the eastern shores of the Hardangerfjord,  Norway's largest fruit-bearing district known as the 'Orchard of Norway'.   With regular boats calling into Lofthus quay, guests can explore the region easily with daily services to other villages and towns including Ulvik and Norheimsund. Bus services also take guests to Voss for day trips on the Flam railway.  The Hotel Ullensvang commands a prominent situation in the centre of Lofthus and right on the fjord.   There are over half a million fruit trees surrounding the hotel, which also offer good walking oppotunities from pleasant strolls through the orchards to more challenging hikes including the 'HM Queen Sonja's panoramic hiking trail.
