Located on the coast between Funchal and the quiet fishing village of Camara do Lobos, the Orca Praia offers a peaceful retreat for those wishing to relax in a stunning setting. Built on the hillside, all rooms have balconies with panoramic ocean views. Funchal is 15 minutes’ bus ride away. The hotel offers a free shuttle service to Funchal 4 x daily Monday to Friday. Camara do Lobos village can be reached by foot along the coastal promenade (approx. 3km)
Lift down to 10th floor only. Restaurant is on 9th floor. Access to the pool, beach and spa is from the lowest floor (12th floor) via a footpath with some steps.

Pico dos Barcelos Viewpoint, Eira do Serrado & Monte Church, half day, Saturday, Monday & Thursday, £32
Leaving Funchal towards 'Pico dos Barcelos' from where you can admire the genral view over unchal and its suburbs. Afterwards you will continue to 'Curral' until Eira do Serrado for a spectacular panorama over the village. Returning to Funchal via Monte and the 'Lady of Monte Church'. Guests can choose by descending on the typical wicker baskets (sledges) a local old means of transport until Livramento (wicker basket ride extra, pay locally)
Camacha, Santana, Pico do Arierio and Ribeiro, full day, Tuesday & Friday, £39
Depart Funchal to Camacha famous for its wicker work and the village where football was played for the first time in Portugal. Afterwards, continue to Pico do Areiro, one of the highest points of the island before continuing to to Ribeiro Frio for its Natural Park, home to many indigeonous plants. Finally to Faial and Santana, known for its typical thatched roof houses. After lunch, return to Funcahl by Porto da Cruz with a stop at the Portela viewpoint.
Porto Moniz, Cabo Girao and Sao Vicente, full day, Wednesday & Saturday, £39
From Funchal, the first stop is Camara do Lobos, one of the most important fishing centres of Madeira, before continuing to Cabo Girao, the second highest sea cliff in the world. Onto Canhas, Paul da Serra, the island's biggest plateau and Porto Moniz with a stop for lunch and chance to visit the famous natural swimming pools. After the lunch stop, you will visit Sao Vincente and Encumeada from where it is posisble to see the ocean on both sides of the island.
