A Tyrolean Village within the 295km Olympia SkiWorld area

Although the resort of Götzens can look quite small and unassuming on the surface, if you look closely - it is a real gem.

The Olympia SkiWorld ski area is vast, boasting of approximately 315km of pistes, 9 linked resorts and glacier skiing throughout the season, everything can be accessed by the Olympia SkiWorld pass. The region was also the home of the 1964 and 1976 Winter Olympics, as well as the 1984 and 1988 Winter Paralympics, and finally the Winter Youth Olympics in 2012. You can visit the Olympic Bobsleigh run in Igls, the Bergisel Olympic Ski Jump and the womens downhill ski run. With so much prestige in the area, no wonder Channel 4 made it the filming location for their exhilarating series The Jump!

The area is best suited to the intermediate skier since the majority of the resort is made up of blue and red pistes, with some further blacks and challenging runs on the Küthai glacier. Innsbruck and Olympia SkiWorld also hold the nickname of ‘Freeride City’ because of the enormous expanse of off-piste opportunities for the keen skiers. It is also a great resort for snowboarders as well.

Guests of Inghams can enjoy the wonderful Olympia SkiWorld Ski Safari - an exclusive itinerary put together that tours the entire ski area in 5 days.

Situated only 6 miles (20 minute bus journey) outside of the city of Innsbruck, Götzens is a fantastic ‘half way’ point for those who want to mix up their skiing with a holiday for culture, sightseeing and more. Götzens village is small with a population of around 3,000 and at its heart sits a beautiful Baroque church.

The little town of Götzens itself has excellent transport links to the Muttereralm area (which sits directly above, linked by the Muttereralmbahn cablecar) and you can reach the other 9 resorts with a very efficient and regular ski bus service that runs across the region throughout the week.
